This park is wonderful for small gatherings with family or friends. Children love this area. The Gorge has been cleaned up so swimming is now pleasant in the summer.

My favourite part of this park is going there on a Saturday or Sunday and hearing (or participating in) the regular acoustic jam sessions.....with no mics and everybody physically distanced. It's a lovely little park. Sometimes hard to find parking, as the parking lot can get filled quickly.

Just for a picnic or a walk about it's a beautiful spot but as a place to Kayak a super place. Well protected from the open ocean, the gorge goes on for miles. My only complaint is that it's about a 2 minute walk from the parking lot to the beach where you can launch your kayak. If you have trailer wheels or there are two of you to carry stuff it's ok otherwise it's not for anyone else who wants to kayak or canoe.

The Esquimalt Gorge Park straddles the Gorge in a rough U. The water is clear and sparkling--you can see the sea greens and it would be a great place to canoe or swim. The Gorge used to be a place where city folks came to cool down during the summers. Now, many families come to have picnic and enjoy playing in the park. The pathways are even and meandering, suitable for a promenade or wheelchair. My friend and I walked her dog for about an hour, and it was just lovely. There is ample parking and a washroom nearby. The best part for me was the Gorge itself where the tide water rushes through a narrow sluice. There are also interpretive/historical didactics here and there. The place is perfect for any recreational gathering and walks.
