Tranquility

Plockton is a most beautiful village situated on a sea loch. As it faces east, it is sheltered from the prevailing winds. The view of mountains, sky, islands, water and shore evolves with the tide, the weather and the season. The walk from the railway station is about twenty minutes, slightly undulating, slightly downhill.

Shame about rude and aggressive local woman
Jul. 2021 • Couples
The harbour and village are beautiful. Very picturesque and I was really looking forward to visiting. There is very, very limited parking - not enough to sustain visitors to the various shops and hotels and we nabbed the only place left at 6pm. My stay was ruined by one of the locals in the morning who, when we returned to our vehicle after a lovely stay at the Plockton Hotel, was kicking our vehicle and banging on our windows with her fist. She told us in more colourful language to "move out car" despite there being no restrictions where we were, and multiple other vehicles parked in front and behind us, she then got heated saying the car was ruining the view from where she wanted to sit outside the building, that the village didn't want tourists and told us to leave and not come back. I'm a grown woman and she was so rude she made me cry.

It was a bit of a shock as up until then we'd had a lovely experience and the other locals seemed happy to have custom into their village.

We are not from the council so don't control the car parking regulations in the village, sorry!

So be wary of parking on Harbour street, despite being legally allowed to, the locals don't seem to like this and it's only ok for the locals to use it to park

Peerlessly Pretty & Picturesque Plockton.
May 2021 • Friends
This is the most charming “shortbread -box” pretty village in the highlands, IMAO, as well as being a National Trust for Scotland conservation village. Which ever way you look you are rewarded with a pleasing view, as it lies on the shores of lovely Loch Carron , and is enclosed within a sheltering bay.
The many palm-trees 🌴 that grow here ( thanks to the Gulf Stream) give it a relaxed Mediterranean ambiance, whilst the village cottages are individually characterful, unique & well-cared for with delightful gardens.
There’s a choice of restaurants, cafes & shops to peruse, free parking at the harbour & public toilets. The road over to here from Kyle Of Lochalsh is slow & snaking, but a scenic experience not to be missed.

Stunning view ...
Sep. 2020
The view over the loch is spectacular as you drive towards Plockton.

It's very busy with limited car parking but if you do get a space, grab an ice cream and sit on the harbour watching the local deer graze by the water's edge. On a warm sunny September afternoon, it's magic!

Beautiful Loch.

We made a special trip from Skye to paddle our kayak in this loch as it’s so attractive with the stunning back drop of Plockton itself as well as the surrounding hills so definitely a great place to paddle and some islands to have your lunch on.

Not really a harbour
Sep. 2019
Its a tranquil setting, but to call this a harbour is stretching it to the extreme. It would be much more appropriate to call it a waterfront. Nothing really here for harbour watchers.

SO RELAXING
Dec. 2019
We ambled down to the harbour after we’ed had lunch locally.
It was so tranquil, and to see the small yachts bobbing around on the water made the whole experience so relaxing.

So colourful and well worth the drive to get there. Lovely little pub overlooking the bay. Nice walk along the village streets.
