I am originally from Bosnia Herzegovina and was a refugee from war, and have lived in Canada for 25 years. Tose Proeski was a young Macedonian singer whom I discovered and he was my connection to the homeland. He was arguably the greatest vocal ever produced by Former Yugoslavia, but his magic transcended his obvious great talent, as he was a great humanitarian, and did much to reconcile the wounds of war and bloodshed in the Balkans. As the greatest peacemaker and certainly the greatest Yugoslavian, Balkan person, since Josip Broz Tito, and a proud patriot of his homeland Macedonia, Tose Proeski used his talent to build bridges and teach a blood-stained region how to love again. Then he died tragically at age 26, and the circumstances will forever remain obscure. His departure left a hole in all of us. His death made me pick up the microphone myself and dedicate myself seriously to singing, as his energy could reach someone whom he had never met, 10,000 kms away. If all this isn't enough to convince you to visit the memorial museum of this angel of the Balkans, then nothing will convince you. The building itself won the 2011 award for the best architectural design in the world.
Visit Krusevo and his memorial museum. His final resting place is 200 metres away in Gumenje cemetery.
With endless love to the fallen angel, from a devoted and loving fan in Canada.

I was moved by the whole experience... a very cheap ticket that gives you entrance to the most touching exhibit.
we came by car, though the roads are in very bad conditon... we almost got lost, because Kruševo is in the middle of nowhere :) but the view is amazing!
his grave is also close by, and some futuristic monument too.

Brilliant memorial house, very nicely done, with lots of relics from the life of Tose, including a motorcycle of his. Great staff, clean washrooms, do not miss this when visiting Krusevo.

I've been planning this trip for such a long time took a plane from Ireland and drove serveral hours through Macedonia to get there. There was a lot of school excursions while we were there and when we arrived the staff at the counter basically told us go with the group of kids with no other options. Nothing was explained and i naively took a picture near the counter when the guide a started screaming at me like i was just garbage. Then the more i was going through the thing i did notice signs not to take pictures which i would have respected if told prior and the guide kept staring at us which made me even more uncomfortable.I then decided to browse the museum another way and i was again told by the staff to follow the group. It litterally took them 8 minutes to go with the group (done and dusted) and since i was staying back in the end the guide just stayed there starring again like i was a shoplifter.I felt so unwelcomed and uncomfortable it spoiled the whole thing and i'm so disappointed. When i went outside i was just so down and went in the cemeteary near by to his grave where i lit a candle to pay my respect to Tose and i saw so many nice messages and words for him. Overall the museum is 100 Denar per person it is nicely made and shows a lot of personal things about him which was great. Only thing i enjoyed in the memorial was when i was paying my respects to a great singer and person and it saddens me that fans are being treated in such manner by those who are ment to maintain and prolong his life achievements. On a good note the lady at the souvenir stand was very nice and helpful but turns out she was not part of the staff and just helping for that day ( so she told us). Anyways i do recommend it for fans it's a great place but dont expect much from the staff. Also if you are looking for his house it's a bit down the road near a big electrical transformator behind another house.

During our stay in Ohrid, we decided to visit Krusevo and everything related to Tose Proeski. It was an amazing experience to see who was Tose. No only great singer, he was an amazing person as sportsmen, religious, humanitarian... God gave as Tose, but also took to early to him.

Near the eternal resting place of Macedonian singer a Memorial House of Tose Proeski was erected. The building is in the shape of a cross and it was opened on 25 April 2011, and at 870 square meters a large number of photos and 350 exhibits are exposed, which materialize the entire life time of Tose Proeski.
His entire life has been chronologically displayed in the memorial. From the childhood to teenage days and the period when he became a star. There are two wax figures in real size. One of him singing and one of him playing.

One very modern museum depicting the career and life of Tose Proeski.
I really liked the fact that we got a guide to describe all the items displayed together with extra info about Tose's career.

To be honest I first heard about him a few months ago when I was learning Macedonian. When I arrived to Skopje and talked to people about him I could see everyone loved him and still miss him. It is wonderful to see how much pride he have brought to his people and how much they still love him. Cool museum with wonderful music of course.
