This place is huge and was around during the 1969 protests (see the pictures inside). Berkeley is worth a visit if you're in SF or nearby and this shop is a highlight for book lovers.

Moe's is Berkeley's answer to Powell's City of Books in Portland. While not as large, it is well organized and has 4 levels of books on just about any subject you would want to find. Quiet and well lighted, it is a delight to browse...More

I loved the second-hand section in particular. I found this place to be wonderful because it's reasonably priced, modest and has a wonderful, cosy feel. I picked up a copy of The Shock Doctrine, because their politics selection is WONDERFUL! Calling all bookworms to Moe's!

Great place to browse for old, used books. They also have new books. A good place to look for "Lonely Planet" books.

This is definitely the proverbial clean, well-lighted place for books. It also happens to be extremely well-organized....More

Moe's is the best bookstore in CA. It is a particular favorite for Greek and Roman classics. But they also have everything else.

I visit Moe's every time I'm in Berkeley and I always find something new. It's very well organized, well-stocked, and peaceful. Check out the rare book collection on the top floor! Reasonable prices, especially for used books. I got a bunch of gently used maps...More
