We took another drive on the Palms to Pines Scenic Byway. We first stopped at Palm Desert Visitor Center. The ranger there was helpful. We then drove and stopped at the vista views. The winds this time were blustery (30 - 50 mph), but the...More

Take a trip out in the desert, you will not regret doing this, it is spectacular. I was fortunate enough to also experience the wild flowers and cactuses in bloom, which is a rare form what i was told.

Cycled up here twice - all 2500 feet. Photos and video of descent prove it was worth it. Went up by car a few times too.

My wife and I went on this drive during our stay in January. It was a great way to spend half a day. Starting from near Palm Springs the first 10 to 15 miles are a series of sharp switch back turns as you make...More

A narrow twisting road up to the mountain top, and look down on the valley below - beautiful. coming up west to east you drive through a pretty forest, to the top, and then down into the valley passing desert terrain along the way.

Great way to escape the desert heat in a hurry. Total change of scenery from beautifull, dry desert to cool pines in less than an hour.

Driving up Highway 74 from Palm Desert to Idyllwild, we pulled over to enjoy the scenic view of the Coachella Valley. Your very first trip, you feel you "have to" take this pull over just to take a break from the curvy road up. It...More

We took this highway from Banning south to Palm Desert. We had not driven it before and the views are spectacular! I would not recommend it in the winter, however.

We were in our rental vehicle. The roads are in good shape, just narrow at points so take it easy. There are places to pull off if you have people tailing you. If you are just going up to the top for the view, it is about... More

I don't like the drive over the mountain. I would take Hwy 10 to Hwy 79 in Banning and drive to Temecula to Hwy 15. Lovely road and not much freeway. Your GPS will get you to Escondido from there. You will like this trip... More
