It is a great drive around the entire lake. Unfortunately, a road closure meant we couldn't, but we drove around as much as we could. The views were amazing, it is just a shame we were out of season and couldn't go on a boat...More

Although the lake was down due to the drought, it was still beautiful. We enjoyed all the hiking trails--several perfect for those of us not up to anything strenuous.

It is a great drive around the entire lake to see how the" natives". live. Loved the homes built on top of the rocks.

Enjoy walking along the lake and observe the swans, ducks, and the fish jump. When the winds are perfect, there are lots of sailboats on the lake, adding to it's beauty. It's peaceful there and there are areas to BBQ or simply have a picnic.

This mountain city has just about everything the flat-landers enjoy in the metropolis below, but has the mountain town charm. Mostly known for the two ski resorts Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, this year-round facility is primarily a weekend getaway for the Los Angeles basin...More

There are some foolish jet skiers who have no clue about safety, courtesy or boating laws. Saturdays are the worst. Rental jet skiers are a hazard. Enforcement of laws needs to be a priority. In one afternoon on the water in our smi boat and...More

Nice on the water, lots of rental options. The beaches aren't plentiful, most shore line is swampy and the shallow water full of grasses.

This mountain lake is like a dream--cold blue waters over which you can kayak, though not swim. It offers all sorts of recreational options, including various boats for rent in summer, skiing during winter, and restaurants of all types in an alpine village.

Very nice day to go swimming in the beautiful big bear lake and have a picnic and watch the car show which had over 500 classic cars, perfect place for all ages!

Depends on the weather (normally still mid to high 60's during the day, chilly at night). Try tent camping at Serrano Campground. Walk along the lake, then visit the Village and eat your meal there. Bring a tent, sleeping... More

August is wonderful, cool at night, tons of stars...70's in the daytime. Might be a little breezy on the lake in the afternoon if you're on a boat, but good beach weather.
