We had burgers here and they were excellent! Also watched a basketball game. Friendly easy service and food.

If you have a yearning for meat and don't want to pay Steakhouse prices; this is your place. The prime rib served Thurs - Sat was excellent. Served with Asparagus and side salad, it was only 20 bucks. Keto friends beware, the wings have breaking but all in all this is an outstanding choice.

We were recommended this hidden away gem by a local.

Great recommendation as our family really enjoyed the food. It’s hidden off the Main Street.

Checked in to our hotel and asked for suggestions on dinner and cocktails. Both front desk clerks and a hotel guest immediately suggested the Bowling Alley! It is located directly behind the La Quinta Inn.
We are always up for a new experience, so we gave it a try - honestly expecting to enjoy just a pre-dinner cocktail.
We were greeted by a very energetic, friendly and inviting server. She thanked us for coming in and offered us a choice of seating locations. Seating choices were plentiful, (due to arriving on a Thursday at about 4:30 pm)bar, pub tables, booth, or table and chair. The interior of the restaurant is unique for a bowling alley. The feeling is that of a seaside relaxed dinner house.
Our server was a great guy. So welcoming. We ordered our cocktails and decided to just relax a bit before deciding to stay for dinner.
Holy smokes - within 30 minutes the place was getting crowed.
Our waiter checked in and offered drink refills and let us know they they had an end cut and rare cut of Prime Rib, if we were interested. Advising they were going to get busy fairly quickly. He was fun and informative. Knew the menu very well and understood gluten free requirements. We of course decided to stay for dinner.
The menu is extensive, offering appetizers, salads, sandwiches and many house speciality dinner items. We were amazed at the number of daily specials. Steaks, prime rib, lobster, fish, Bbq ribs- oh my.
The Food was terrific. Served promptly, hot and exactly as ordered. Both our prime rib dinners were terrific and more than we could eat.
We also enjoyed the house salad with the best blue cheese dressing my hubby has had in a long time. The spinach salad was fresh and the dressing wonderful. Not overly drenching the tender spinach leaves. Just perfect.
We enjoyed the great food, amazing service and just when we thought it couldn't get any better- a visit from the owner!!! She was so friendly, and enjoyable. We feel like family.
She gave us lots of information on the bowling alley and how they came to provide such a great dining establishment. We talked about the menu items and ambience of the restaurant. She spoke highly of her husband, chef and entire staff. We were sorry we didn't get a chance to talk with her husband as well. He was busy chatting with people at every table. Many locals enjoy this place. When we complimented the owner on the customer service her staff provided, she beamed with pride, letting us know the gal that seated us is the daughter of the chef!!
What an enjoyable, delightful evening we had. The food was amazing, service excellent and new friendships were made.
Life doesn't get any better than that.
We recommend The Back Alley and defiantly will return when we visit Bishop.
Family friendly, kid menus, seating for one or a crowd. Oh, and bowling if you are so inclined.

OK, we read all the reviews and we're hoping this place was going to be a diamond in the rough. All the reviews raved about how great the food was. To be honest, it was fairly average. A good meal but nothing spectacular.

Good food at a reasonable price with a full bar. It can be busy because most patrons are locals, so plan on arriving early if possible.

Yep. This restaurant is in a bowling alley. Very busy at 9 pm. The locals are quite fond of this place--they know what they want without a menu! If you want the prime rib, get there early!

I travel throughout the US and try to give credit where credit is due to a good restaurant for service and food. Well .... I can't do that for this establishment. I was in Bishop on business and the hotel clerk sent me there for Dinner. I questioned it when he made the recommendation as I've eaten at Bowling Alleys before and they usually don't have the best of food. I came, by myself, and asked to be seated. I was seated at the counter as they were trying to save the tables for parties. I sat down with the menu and it looked really good. After about 15 minutes of no service, I asked someone to wait on me. The waitress indicated that she would as soon as she could. I watched as 4 servers walked in front of me and none asked if I had been waited on. No water was offered, no drinks were offered and certainly no food was offered. After 20 minutes, I decided to leave and go elsewhere.

It is a pity as the menu and food coming out looked pretty good but the fact that the service was poor sends me down the road. and I recommend that you do the same.

This place is a restaurant with a small bowling alley attached. A place where people come to dine instead of bowling. The food was very good but not cheap. The service was excellent, with our waiter Nicco being very attentive. They had a "specials" menu that had a good selection, two of which were the 60-40 burger ( beef-bacon) and the other a teriyaki chicken breast. Not the best in atmosphere, but everything else was great.
