Always safe, with plenty of shopping and restaurant choices nearby. Suggest going to Gayles first for excellent food to share at the beach.

In the past we've rented houses along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz. This time we chose a place along East Cliff in Capitola, so we spent quite a bit of time walking the Cliff Drive and gazing out at the surfers along Capitola City...More

When we go here we always bring some food, umbrellas or a tent, and boogie boards. Its a perfect place to boogie board to the left of the stage/park area. You can rent boogie boards here and I think even a suit. You can go...More

Took our dog for a walk here, leashed of course. The beach, like others in the area are good for long walks and interesting views. This beach has California’s first condos, gaily painted so they can’t be missed.

Mostly small waves, easy access to ocean, lots of shallow water and plenty of space. Free summer concerts right next to the beach as well as restaurants and take out pizza.

There are a lot of "no's" to observe at this beach: no smoking, no dogs, no alcohol, no going in the lagoon etc. It's not that great of sand or easy to park and all parking cost $. It's a great beach to view from...More

It is a long and wide sandy beach. The edge, away from the water, is a low seawall (for Winter storm surges). A wide cement sidewalk runs its entire length and is welcoming to wheelchairs. As a matter of fact, the Capitola... More

Not sure if they have hours posted. I've been there after 10pm and saw a few other people there also. Most other beaches in the area just don't want campfires past 10pm.
