Nice Drive By

Always a beautiful lagoon to drive by as you cruise the coastline. I would agree that while a pleasant walk not the most beautiful when surrounded by so many other coastline views.

If you did not it was there, you would never know that Batiquitos Lagoon is right by Hwy.5 and the loss would be your bad. It is not that easy to find, but with GPS, it is just a few turns away. Park your car, carry a bottle of water and begin an adventure that will have you bragging to... More

This is a nice walk with a visitor center with friendly docents. Don't go after a rainstorm as it can be muddy. Look for egret and heron nests in early spring. Last visit I saw a couple of osprey.

Since moving to the area a few months ago, I discovered, while doing my usual daily walk, a little trail along this wonderful lagoon. It's on the end which flows into the ocean, and from that particular vantage point, there is the most lovely view of the ocean, the coastal highway, the train, and most importantly, the wildlife! Thousands of... More

From afar, the lagoon is a lovely natural feature. As it is tidal influenced, its attractiveness will vary with the tides. In any case, it is not a particularly attractive place close up for walks. The beach would be more preferred for a nature walk.

This is a lovely place to go for a nature walk. It's virtually all on the flat and is a good wide walking trail. The start of the trail is quite noisy due to traffic on the I 5, but the further on you go the quieter it becomes. There's lots of bird life and vegetation with wild flowers. It's... More

Our walk at Batiquitos Lagoon was a highlight of our trip. The trails are nicely maintained, as is the visitor center (open 9-12:30), and there are shaded benches all along the way for rest stops. There's a nice variety of trails: the north end trail is low in the rushes for an up close experience, and the north side trails... More

Very nice wildlife preserve and lagoon. Easy to get to and parking easy. Trail is well kept up and runs along a PGA golf course.

This is a nice place to take a family stroll or a good place for a fast exercising walk. You will see lots of wildlife and lots of flowers. It is very nicely done.
