If you love California impressionist, plain air painting this is THE gallery to learn more about it. The association has a storied history with a number of books for purchase that highlight the history as well as good reproductions of notable painters over the past 90 years of the gallery’s existence. My husband and I were happy with the friendly reception we received there. The staff is happy to answer questions and educate their visitors. We joined the association to support this organization and we bought a lovely small oil from a well known local artist.

I think that if I were shopping for art from a local artist, this would be my first place to go. There are rooms filled with all styles of painting, with very interesting sculptures dotting the rooms. One could spend hours searching for the perfect artwork, and, most likely, would find it here. The prices also, compared to the other galleries, seemed very reasonable.
The building is nestled behind some trees, and lots of flowers. You need to go up some gradual stairs, which have railings. There are benches outside and inside. We very much enjoyed spending some time here.

From the warm welcome you'll receive to the expansive array of art and artists, this is a do-not-miss art lovers destination. Suzanne, Sally, and Kim are knowledgeable, low key, and happy to assist whether in telling you about an artist or pulling works from the stacks. You'll find something special at every turn.

Over the many years of its existence, the gallery has provided wonderful displays of the many local artists who live in and create their works of art on the Monterey Peninsula. It is always a treat to see what the staff has chosen to display as well as pick through stacks of paintings from there artists.

This is a great gallery. First of all, there are multiple modern artists' works exhibited here. The ladies are truly knowledgeable, I believe that they're also a non-for-profit organization. If you enjoy modern art, I'd start with this place and they move around; you'll notice that you'd see some of the artists' works in other galleries, so it's a great starting point to get a general picture. Great place!

If one is walking around "downtown" Carmel and visiting the art galleries, the Carmel Art Association should be the first stop! Here you will find a friendly atmosphere (no one following you around pointing out paintings and prices) with a wonderfully organized sampling of the many Art Association members' portfolios.
There is a rich history here, going back over 80 years. An artist cannot just become a member they must be invited and juried. So quality is kept high. And since it's an association you will find the prices of the art to be quite reasonable.
It is a "safe" place to buy art. Over the years we have purchased several paintings here -- and they still hang proudly at home.

My favourite art gallery to view art by local Carmel artists! It is a big gallery with many participating artists. Prices range from $200 to $2000+. At the lower end, a piece of art costs the same as a dress and will please its owner/buyer for a long, long time. The staff are happy to give you the background on any artist you are interested in.

The Carmel Art Association is right on one of the main streets, and the welcoming looking entrance encourages you to enjoy a nice chance to look at local fine art, without any sales pressure.

I was fascinated to learn that the 100+ artists that are a part of this co-op must live withing 30 miles of Carmel. You can't get more local than that! I was truly a kid in a candy store, surrounded by amazing finds. I made me want to buy a bigger house so that I would have more walls to use some of the wonderful art.
