Loved seeing families of the Barbary macaques as we drove through the park. They are very friendly and will take bread and bananas from your hands. I thought it might be difficult to find them, but they are waiting by the side of the road or up in the cedar trees waiting for people to come by.

This was by far the most fun activity I did in Morocco. Not even close. You will never have more of an opportunity to interact with a beautiful, endangered species of primates than you will here. Make time to see the Barbary apes.

Ifrane is surprisingly cold; I recommend NOT wearing shorts and flipflops like I did. There are lots of monkeys around for photos, and locals selling peanuts to feed them. There is likely the odd tourist horse etc around too, if that takes your fancy.

As we drove through an arm of the park on a scenic drive, we stopped where there are colonies of Barbary Macaques, also know as Barbary Apes. They are found in Morocco, Algeria, and Gibraltar. Attracted by people feeding them, they are very tame; but be careful they can also be aggressive and bite..
