Whale sharks can be seen in a small barangay Tan-awan, which is 10 km away from the center town of Oslob. Whale shark watching in Cebu started last September 2011 and it became popular all over the world when the news hit in the internet last November 2011. By December 2011, local fishermen's interact with the whale sharks by feeding them that result to flocking of tourist to the beach of Tan-awan. Large numbers of tourists began arriving in Oslob not just to see the whale sharks being fed but also to snorkel or dive with them.

The whale sharks are so beautiful it's defiantly amazing to see them but sad how they're just swimming for the food and not naturally. Scientists have said that it is interfering with their migration therefore effecting the whale sharks. They're not inclosed or harmed in any way just effecting their migrations which is not natural. It's defiantly an experience but... More

Do this once in your life! It was surreal! Don't settle in just watching them from the boat. You have to let go your fear and swim. The boatmen will assist you if you are not a good swimmer and would glady offer to take pictures. We gave them 300 tip. You should have an underwater camera to capture those... More

They shouldn't be feeding them the way they do. It messes with their migratory lifestyle. I DO NOT recommend anyone going to Oslob for whale shark watching. I regret doing so myself.

Prior to the flood of tourism in Cebu, I visited in March 2016 whilst the Philippines was very much at the bottom of most people's journey itineraries in SE Asia. I love the Philippines it is my favorite country of all that I have visited, so don't get me wrong. I attended this activity as I was recommended by tourists... More

Great opportunity to swim up close and observe the Whale Sharks. Very crowded so arrive early. Challenging to get much quality time since there are usually several boats around the sharks at any given time and the time spent there seems to go by very quickly. Make sure to take a change of clothing, the bathing suits or whatever will... More

First thing, this would have been a 5 but since there is lack of guide on the part of the operators, I gave it a 4. The place has discounts for filipino tourist. The boat men are friendly and willing to give you a hand for that picture you so wanted with the whale shark. This is indeed an experience... More

We had a great time at the whale shark watching place as the sharks do come really close and give you an excellent view of their beautiful skin. The water current were high so we were holding on to the boats that took us to the whale spot. The snorkels and life jackets are provided and its recommended to use... More

It is available till noon so if you are coming from cebu mactan, then you have to leave at dawn. It is once in a lifetime experience. It is commercialize so it is a sure thing. You just ride like a small boat good for 4 passengers 10 meters away from shore then you'll see all the whales. The boat... More
