We went on a whale watching trip with a group of 7 adults. The ship is very clean and has 2 under water viewing pods. Captain Dave is extremely knowledgeable and offers a lot of information as the whales are spotted. There is a crew member on board that takes photos of your group and the whales/dolphins you actually see... More

Okay, I was SHOCKED that we actually saw Whales. For some reason, I didn't believe we would, but it took about 10 minutes and there they were! Two grey whales. We followed them for about 15/20 minutes. It was pretty amazing. But, what really blew me away was the DOLPHINS!!! We found literally hundreds of them and they swam next... More

We had a fantastic time. The crew was great with our kids, 10 & 6. We saw whales and dolphins. The viewing pods let us see and hear the dolphins swimming underwater which was a whole new experience for us. We'll definitely do Capt Dave's again. It was much better than the trip we did last year from Newport Beach.

Because Capt. Dave's boats are smaller they are able to get closer to the whales & dolphin. Your also closer to the water and that perspective gives you a more "up close and personal" look at these magnificent creatures. We saw two grey whales heading south to Baja and thousands of dolphin feeding on sardines, with pelicans diving into the... More

We didn't get enough whale watching in Maui, so we scheduled this trip with Capt Dave's while stopping in California on our way back to Maryland. Immediately out of the harbor, we spotted to gray whales. After taking pictures of the whales for a little while, we went looking for dolphins - and did we find dolphins. We came across... More

Tired to only see 2-3 dolphins during an excursion (if you are lucky). Well this one is for you. Actually you can expect seeing many... maybe 50-100 and more. If you appreciate the scientific elements in everything, Capt. Dave is the man to teach you a lot of things. As french canadians, we grew up with Cousteau's adventures but I... More

I have been with other companies, but there is no comparison. If you want to see sea life, go with Captain Dave's. It's worth the extra money. We have taken different people with us on six different trips. They always spot something for the clients. They are enthusiastic and informed, and they are respectful of the sea and its inhabitants.... More

We went on this tour on what was expected to be a cold December day, but turned out to be warm and sunny. I've been on several whale watching tours before, but I've never been on one this good. From the outset, it was apparent how enthusiastic and committed to marine life this crew and this company. The boat was... More

I am a local and grew up in south OC. I've been whale watching several times in the area but Captain Dave's was by far my best experience. In one trip we saw 2 gray whales and 2 fin whales (an extremely rare sighting). We also found a pod of nearly 1,000 dolphins. It was incredible! The crew is extremely... More
