Out of all of the fantastic beaches in SD, this one ranks as one of the high average ones. How can you go wrong with any beach.

The sand is coarse dark gray with black streaks of mica black sparkles running through and up and down the sand. There are very heavy gravel/sea stone deposits everywhere. In our travels (and living) in California, this beach did not measure up to others. It...More

Just enjoy the sound of the ocean waves, the water on your feet and friendly people walking the beach just, like, you. Surrounded by great eating places and a cool wind.

This beach is great for families and surfers. Frequented by wind surfers in the winter; paddle boarders and surfers in the summer. Great family beach. Adjacent to San Elijo State Park campground.

This is a very picturesque and lovely beach area. However, it does cost quite a lot to park there, unless you have a California State Parks pass. That money does help pay for the bathrooms and the shower, which are nice to have. You walk...More

Not only did I get a great parking spot, I brought my dogs and met a bunch of other doggies and their parents. It's nice to have bathrooms, but they could use a remodel.
