We enjoyed our one-day visit to Dixon Lake. We took one of several hikes in the area and also hiked up to Daley Ranch. Easy place to park if you just want to hike, and you don't have to pay for parking when parking at the trailhead instead of going into the park itself. It's also a good place to... More

I grew up fishing Dixon lake and now take my kids when I can. Excellent clean campgrounds and excellent fishing.

My family stopped here for a few hours to stretch their legs on the way to San Diego. The park is not horrible but I am guessing the bathrooms, trails, shelters, etc were installed in the 1960's and they are badly in need of replacement/refurbishment. I think the staff does what they can but it is obvious this park gets... More

Hidden in the hills above Escondido is Dixon Lake. It is a great local park featuring hiking, camping, fishing and picnicing. The lake has produced some record bass and is regularly stocked with trout by the City of Escondido. Nominal fee per car to get in but the park is well worth it. If you camp there, you will enjoy... Dixon lake is East of Escondido in the foothills. It is a great family place for a variety of outdoor activities. Boating, and fishing are good. We go there for picnic's and find it a wonderful serene spot that is close to town.

I fished there on 8/21/15. I found the place to be clean and well kept. I rented one of their reasonably priced motor boats for a day of fishing. The boat was powered by a 12v battery and a trolling motor. This was my only problem. When the winds pick up in the afternoon it becomes very hard to get... More

It has a very clean environment around and in the lake. There are many great hiking trails around the lake. Also, it is great for fishing. Many grassy areas are open for picnics. It is free to enter on the weekends.

We camped this past weekend at Dixon Lake. It was a great experience! The campsites are clean and well-maintained and with the gates closed and locked at sundown, we felt very safe and secure. We broke the rules and checked out the campsite beforehand (cars aren't suppose to go into the camping area - which we didn't know at the... More

Being charged a fee to fish is not the problem. Having to line up shoulder to shoulder with strangers behind a barrier to night fish is. Lines crossed all night with people who are practically sitting in your lap because you are ALL suppose to stand behind a block barrier while the Rangers babysat you and insisted on looking thru... If any body plan to go fishing at DIxon lake, it is better off by just filling up your bath tub and fish there instead.
