The hubby and I decided to do this Sunday morning before heading back to the city for a late flight out of SFO (which we will never do again, but that's another story!). This was just the perfect thing to do on a hot October...More

Burkes is one of the few places that charges by the canoe rather than by the number of people who rent, which is a plus point for a family of four: it meant that we paid $65 instead of close to $150 at some of...More

We rented a canoe, two adults and two young kids. We had little prior experience on the river, but this section of river is mostly calm, with a few sections to excite young kids. So we got by mostly. A couple of times we had...More

I had never canoed before and so this was quite an adventure out of my usual comfort zone. I was really impressed with this outfit. The staff were friendly, extremely well-organized, and safety-conscious. The boats were clean and everything set up efficiently. What a very...More

Love this company. We live here and own our canoes, but still use Burke's when we have friends visiting. Take your friends/family for a great drift down the river, stop and have a picnic (I recommend stopping at Mom's apple pie for sandwiches to bring)....More

Family run fun!!!! Pack your coolers - get there early and spend the day floating, swimming, picnicking and frolicking on the river. They pick you up at the end of the day so you don't have to park a car downstream. Good fun!

Sweet starting point to canoe down the river. The staff is helpful and reassuring for those of us with less experience. Really nice trip down the river. Love the school bus experience on the way back.

We didn't see any people with dogs in their canoes! And if there are dogs at any of the private beaches, canoe renters are not allowed to land there anyway.
