I've lived here a while and never went to the underground garden's. Wow was I surprised at want this man did right here in Fresno. Our group went on the tour and had the best time. It was a hot day, but underground it was so much cooler. We'll visit again.

If you ever wanted to just dig a hole, this place just makes you want to do it all the more. I highly recommend this place to families and the elderly, but all ages would enjoy it. Its really neat to see the ingenuity and thought put into the underground gardens. It is definitely a hidden gem of Fresno!

What a neat place to see. We went based on reviews of TripAdvisor and glad we did. It doesn't look like much from the outside but once you go underground and listen to the tour guide, it is pretty amazing what one guy's vision so many years ago was. We went in November and it was a little bit chilly... More

If you like quirky people and places, you'll love this one. It's a labyrinth of deep pits, caves, and alcoves connected by tunnels, tirelessly burrowed by a Sicilian citrus grower who bought 80 acres not realizing that the Fresno "hardpan" soil just under the surface prevented trees from taking root. Undaunted, he dug under the hardpan for 40 years (using... More

We have been wanting to stop and tour the underground gardens for a couple of years, but never "took the time" to actually make it happen. We finally did though and were so impressed with what still exists. The man certainly had a vision and put a labor of love into creating his underground home. Our docent was fabulous and... More

I was amazed and fascinated of what I seen and learned from our tour guide. Very unique & interesting. We plan to return to learn more about this unique & one of a kind below ground level living quarters & gardens. We were awe of the architecture & thought that went into building this maze of tunnels.

My husband and I did not visit this garden on our most recent trip to Fresno, but we have been there several times, most recently around 2013. It is a monument to a very determined Sicilian immigrant, Baldassare Forestiere, who came to Fresno in the early 20th century. He wanted to raise fruit trees, but heat, lack of water, and... More

We went there to kill time in Fresno, but we were in for a very pleasant suprise! As an Architect I was in awe of the brilliant ways this man has build his underground home. This should be taught along Frank Lloyd Wright et al. Definite must see when in Fresno!!

This is one of the area's most historical sites. This is close to the freeway, easy on and off. The only negative is that this place closes @ 3:00pm.

Very unique and one of a kind attraction. This was dug by hand by an Italian immigrant over 100 years ago and is an underground living space/garden/orchard. Well worth the visit.
