Take a tour off Highway 99 and visit Fresno's best kept secret. *A hand-built network of underground rooms, courtyards and passageways reminiscent of the ancient catacombs. *Unique fruit producing trees, shrubs, and vines growing underground - some over 90 years old! *Ancient Roman architecture - arches, vaults and stone-built walls. *Underground micro-climates - temperature variations of 10 to 30 degrees! *Underground home of Sicilian visionary and self-taught artist/builder Baldassare Forestiere.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you get down underground it’s so much better than expected. Went with my parents and siblings (age 17-22) and had a fantastic and enthusiastically led tour from Latishka (not sure how to spell that) and would...More

It’s worth seeing this interesting story of a man that lived in these tunnels. It’s in the middle of dirty Fresno but I enjoyed the tour. A major plus is that it’s at least 15 degrees cooler under the ground! A must in the summer.

In setting a record of 30 days in a row of 100+ degree days, history show us that they had the right so many years ago. What a great place, everyone needs to visit the Forestiere Underground Gardens.

If you are interested in the unusual stories of enterprising people, don't miss this. The large underground living and growing space (with skylights) is so interesting! Don't miss it.

Italian immigrant Mr. Forestiere purchased 80 acres in the late 1800s that he later learned was unsuitable for citrus farming. Not to be discouraged, he decided to carve out an underground home with nothing more than a pick ax, persistence, and muscle. And what a...More

I noticed that your questions were already answered (below) although we paid $15 for a senior admission (not $10 as someone else stated). Maybe the respondent had a coupon or other discount? You may access their website... More
