We have visited The Consumnes River Preserve several times over the past few years on our trips to San Francisco. We have been there in several seasons, some dry and some wet. Last year we had been there in very dry conditions and there were very few birds to see, which was disappointing. In March of this year there was... More

It is a nice forested collection of trails to walk along, a total of a few miles. The far loop is a must, and remember to check on the leaflet for numbers as you go along - you can learn even more about the park.

I drove almost 2 hours to get here and I was so excited to see it. I saw on instagram and google how beautiful this place would be. When we got there, there was NO ONE there to help us to give us directions. Their "main" office was empty, the map was not clear because it was so dirty you... More

We were coming home from a trip and decided to see how far Franklin Blvd went. What a wonderful surprise! The drive was beautiful and we saw some really neat birds.

Amazing river reserve plenty of wild animals and beautiful landscapes. At a short drive from Sacramento, you can go there after knowing firstly Clarksburg, the Old Sugar Mill (wine tasting) and a beautiful road (160) with lots of vineyards.

We arrived when it was cool and cloudy. For the first half hour we just enjoyed walking on the River Walk Trail (it is a 3 mile loop trail.) You could go here even in the heat of the summer because most of the trail is shaded. However, the sun came out about the same time we were walking on... More

This is a great place to view and photograph ducks. There are also trails through a variety of habitats. The unstaffed nature center is very small but informative. There are restrooms and picnic tables at the nature center.

Visited here several times over several days. It is very large, over 70 square miles, stretching from west of Interstate 5 to east of Highway 99. The area around the visitor center was the highlight for me, with thousands of Greater White-fronted Geese overhead and many Northern Pintails, along with dozens of other species of birds. I liked the wetland... More

I took my boys here and we were able to go on a nature hike with one of the docents. He introduced us to so many different elements of this area. We learned so much! Space for everyone. You are truly in nature.

This is a very precious piece of land and very impressive. I was just so happy to see all of this preserved for us to see and for the wildlife to live in. A really peaceful place.
