Our favorite winery in Sonoma. It's a small family operation and the people are so friendly. Great red wines and olive oil. Vineyard is absolutely beautiful. Short trail that goes a pond with a fabulous view of the hillside with picnic area. Call to make reservations. Locked gate entrance. Free, no pressure tasting.

It takes some planning to visit A.Rafanelli Winery, as it's necessary to call ahead and make an appointment. Access requires a gate code, which they'll provide at the time you confirm your reservation. The reward is some of the best red wine I've ever tasted. They offer a dark chocolate to taste with the cabernet, and it partners perfectly. Visitors... More

We made an appt no problem, showed up a bit early and were asked politely to wait as the prior guest was not finished. I overused Dave rafanelli's garden and it was an enviable garden for sure. Talk about a green thumb! When it was our turn we once again learned more about the family -4 th generation running the... More

I read so many wonderful things about the wines of A. Rafanelli. This was our first wine tasting on Valentine's Day. The winery and grounds are beautiful. The owner's daughter hosted our tasting. She didn't seem so excited to host people. She mentioned that she had been working 9 days in a row so I know she was tired. She... More

You have to make reservations to go to this vineyard, trust me it's worth the trip, what a beautiful place to visit, once we arrived we were welcome by the owners daughter who was very welcoming and served us there signature wines. WOW the cabs and the Zinfandel is one of a kind, we also learned about the history on... More

We just came back from our 3rd annual trip to West Dry Creek area with two other couples from PA. We stayed all week and again visited/tasted wines from about 20-25 wineries during our 7 day stay. We made an apt to go in on a Tuesday and were treated to a tour during crush(3-4 week of September). We saw... More

We made our annual visit to A. Rafanelli to pick up our Zin order. Tried both the Zin and Cab at the tasting room plus the chocolate. The dark chocolate makes the Zin taste even better. David gave a tour of the cave with some family history. Grounds and veg. garder are beautiful. If you are a Zin lover this... More

I have waited months to be able to finally go see this great and legendary Zin maker and last weekend, we got the opportunity. It was easy to get an appt and the girls took good care of us upon arrival. We tasted both the Zin and Cab in their wonderful barrel room that added to the experience, and they... More

I stumbled upon A. Rafanelli when looking at google maps in the sonoma area. I was intrigued because the didn't do retain distribution, and I really like small wineries which cater to their customers rather than to what can sell in stores. We were the only people at the tasting, which was done in the cellar among all the aging... More
