Very unexpected, but this is truly a green gem in Trochu. The paths make for a lovely, shaded walk and even when it’s quite hot the gardens are enjoyable. I only wish that we had been able to settle in for tea!

Always wanted to visit so being retired my wife and I decided to go visit the nearest public garden. The drive turned out to be a fine idea as the lilies are out magnificent. Beautiful indeed . Nice grounds kept mostly by volunteers.

We were lucky enough to come across the Trochu Arboretum & Gardens while out for a drive. I am very happy we took the time to explore these beautiful and unexpected grounds. The entrance is really quite unassuming giving you very little clue to how lovely the views are on the other side of the fence. As you walk through the entrance gate, there is a little stand that has an information leaflet of the Arboretum and a place to put donations for admission. You can then follow the path towards the rest of the gardens and the little cafe beyond. There was a wedding going on the day we strolled through, so we were not able to have anything to eat on site, but the set up for the wedding and reception looked stunning. There are several different types of gardens on the property and if you can try to take a tour to learn even more about this fascinating place. This is less than two hours from Calgary and well worth the drive if you love gardens and nature.

Recently had the pleasure to visit the gardens. Complete with a lunch at the Sweetgrass cafe. Lovely way to spend an afternoon. Congratulations to the town of Trochu for their forward thinking and hard work. Gardens of this high calibre are a lot of hard work. Well done
