Having lived in SoCal almost my entire life I often forget about this gem. A nice buffer between suburbia and the ocean. Driving up or down the coast you all of a sudden notice there is nature on both sides of the hwy. You can...More

There is a lot to explore here. Where to start? Maybe you should just go down and see for yourself. Depending on your level of endurance, you could turn this into a pretty substantial little hike, doing a loop up and around the perimeter of...More

Large wildlife sanctuary mostly for migrating and indigent birds. Nature for Huntington Beach naturalists.

The wetlands and marsh areas were beautiful. Hiking allows to see water fowl, turtles, and fish. It is great exercise and a great way to be one with the surrounding nature. Highly recommended.

This place is free, has plenty of free parking and has a great nature walk. You see many types of birds, even some owls (if you are lucky). There are docents on hand to answer questions regarding the flora/fauna, birds and animals around the area.

We rode our bikes from Huntington Beach pier to the Warner Street entrance to the wetlands. The only regret is that bike riding through the wetlands is prohibited. A bike path would have allowed us to more fully experience the wetlands.

The best thing I enjoy here is the great walking path through the wetlands. It's so tranquil. Don't be surprise if one of the amazing hawks fly right over your head. If you look real close you can also see some small orange crabs in...More
