Very beautiful scenic area. The mountains are breathtaking. As of you can't bend your head back far enough at some points. Most of the land seemed to be posted no trespassing or privately owned. Around the lakes area was beautiful though! I'd your looking too get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, take a short drive on Otay.

Numerous spectacular mountain views of western US/Mexico border areas can be seen from the truck trails crisscrossing the wilderness area. Highway legal 4x4 vehicle recommended, though much of the truck trails have been paved in recent years. US Border Patrol frequents the wilderness area truck trails. Numerous abandoned mines and mine shafts dot the area, as well as, an abandoned former Buffalo Soldiers Outpost of several concrete structures.
