We made the trip up to Fort Ross with high expectations. The drive up was indeed beautiful and the grounds, building and patio were splendid. However the actual wine tasting experience was sub-par. Perhaps two young women who helped us were new. Their knowledge of...More

The wine tasting costs $25 and for this you get 4 tastings of superb wine namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir(2) and Pinotage. Pinotage is a variety more commonly associated with South Africa and one I have always thought overrated, that is until I tried the Fort...More

While we enjoyed the wine tasting at Fort Ross, the ride up the winery was really cool - a winding single lane road up through the redwoods from RT 1. Nice patio deck for tasting in a casual setting with nice views. Off the beat...More

During a driving rainstorm my wife and I trudged our way up the mountain to Fort Ross Vineyard tasting room. It was a trip worth taking. The wines were wonderful and the view, if not for the rain and fog, would have been stupendous. If...More

If you are on Hwy 1 near Jenner, I recommend a brief detour to Fort Ross winery. Tasting room is beautiful and the Pinot Noir wine is exceptional. I am not typically a red wine fan but the Stagecoach was an exception.

Stopped by after visiting Fort Ross, host was verging on rude extremely calculating on whom he wished to attend to. Highly focussed on how visitors found the winery and lacking on sense of humour. Unlike other tastings you have to buy 2 bottles to have...More

It takes 10-15 minutes up a winding road to reach the winery. They have chardonnay and pinot noir for the most part for a $15 tasting fee. The wines are in the $45-60 range, though there are some more expensive reserves on offer as well....More
