My wife and I took the hike in late November so the waterfall was dried up but we still really enjoyed the hike. The views are beautiful and the waterhole was still full. Rock formations at the waterfall and views during the hike are excellent.

Hidden gem after the long hike! Best to start early to avoid the heat. Wanna go back either in late fall or early spring.

The hike to the falls was long but pretty easy since it was mostly down hill. Got to the falls and luckily there was actually a waterfall. There were a few people but later on in the day, it started to get very crowded. Some...More

One of the best trails in San Diego, a must visit for visitors, groups and families especially in late spring. Bring more water and sun cream and make sure you register and pay ($3 per person) online prior to going there.

The permit is $10 for a group of 5 people maximum and must be purchased online. You are greeted with a friendly volunteer to check you in/out and give you a quick overview and info. of the trail, which is a nice safety and precaution...More

It was a total of approx 5 miles. The hike there was all down hill with 1000 for elevation change and no shade. So make sure you bring lots of water and snacks to make the hike back because it’s 2 miles of ALL uphill....More

Recent rain made a full streaming waterfall. Three creeks (shin deep) to cross to get there. Bring plenty of water because the hike back can be brutal in the sun. But the view was worth it!

This is a relatively short hike, but don't underestimate it. I live nearby and it is almost a daily occurrence to see the helo going over for a rescue. People die on this trail. The trap is that it is downhill all the way down....More

Several tips before you go! (This review is for the Ramona trail and we went in the summer.) 1. Buy a $6 permit online before hand because they only issue 75 a day for groups of 5. If you are going on a weekend, they...More

I haven't hiked through the Julian side either but I heard there is less foot traffic and the hike back up is much steeper than the Romana side. Here's a link that might help you decide which route would work best for... More

Yes, it’s still flowing, it’s going to be very hot if you’re going tomorrow so bring lots of water for the hike and some in your car for after. Have fun though!
