The California landscape is represented beautifully at this great escape. The hiking trails are relatively easy and offer encounters with diverse wildlife and views ranging from ravines cluttered with manzanita and oak to hilltops offering a desert view.

We live in north San Diego county and needed to get away but didn't want to travel too far. We used the easy online reservation system and got a wilderness cabin for a 2 day/2 night stay. It was wonderful! My sister and brother-in-law took their new travel trailer for her "maiden voyage" and stayed in the RV sites that... More

Although there has been a huge drought in S California and the park has lost many of its more mature Oaks this Camp Ground remains very popular especially during the summer months ( can be hot even at 4500 feet elevation) and probably during the Fall and Spring too. DEFINITELY need reservations. Has cabins for rent and RV sites as... More

A hidden jem. It's a San Dieo County Park about four miles from Julian. No hookups that I know about but campsite are usually level and paved. There are wood cabins for rent as well as showers available and a playground for the kids. There are fire rings but be careful please. Reservations available. "Go, go and see"!

I have camped here almost every year since 2013 and enjoy it. Julian is close by in case you forgot something, Lake Cuyamaca is close for those who like to fish and hike. There's lots to do at Heise Park

My 80 year old father had rented a cabin for a few nights and we drove up from the desert. We were going to visit just for the day. We had stayed at Willian Heise park many times before to celebrate our dads birthday which falls in the middle of August. This time we took our 7 month old puppy.... More

Great place to relax or hike. The grounds are awesome. The cabins are pine and basic but very clean. You'll need an air mattress and bedding, towels and cooking supplies. It's kinda like glamping. Going back in 2 weeks. Can't wait.

we drove up to Julian just to check out this park for a future group trip. Its a beautiful large campground with wonderful trails in all directions. very well maintained spots, showers, large play field, amphitheater, playground and great looking cabins too. some sites did not have much shade, but most did.

This is a beautiful campgrounds in Julian. It is a nice area to hike and enjoy lovely views, and have a bonfire for s'mores. The hikes can be very strenuous, but the views are worthwhile. You can even hike to the state park from this area. The town of Julian is a few miles up the road, but you would... More

This county campground a wonderful surprise...and so close to home. We brought our RV up for a couple of nights to check it out and it is a gem. The campground itself is quite pretty, even if some of the campsites are a bit close together. We noticed that some of the table/firepit areas are a little exposed in the... More
