Bit scary going through the tunnels but fascinating tour. Need to duck down at times. Thorough explanations of the excavation methods and what the miners went through to get their gold

Tour costs $10 for adult and $5 for kids. Guides are descendants of original mine owner - and grew up at the mine site. Well worth a few hours

Taught us about hard rock gold mining, taught us to pan for gold, explained the gold mining business in Julian. This was an experience that none of us ever had before.

For something out of the ordinary, do this trip. It's quaint and scenic and the guide is really informative. Indeed, it's quite technical! Loved the tour and would recommend to everyone.

A couple of the women who had dresses on went up last because the small "stairs" were more like a latter with about 20 steps up. Not wheelchair accessible, but not at all strenuous either.
