Very enjoyable. We had a few mosquitoes at the beginning though not bad. Views are great. Likely to walk amongst some cows - but they are friendly!

Santa Isabel Open Space Preserve is a huge County Park with 18.5 miles of trails that are well-groomed and marked. There are two loop trails. Elevation gain is under 1000' on mostly rolling hills with oak woodlands and open meadows with wildflowers in season. Two...More

It's like looking through a child's picture book of the ideal pasture. Green and rolling with big blobs of lichen covered granite boulders and cows lazing about. When you think of San Diego you don't always think of winding country roads surrounded by Oaks and...More

One of the best places to hike in San Diego County. The rolling hills, great views and getting to see the cattle still on the preserve.

They were off in the distance chasing rabbits, that they could not catch. A lovely place for a picnic lunch. I go and get a Dudley's sandwich and just be with nature. Tons of open dpace and eady hiking. During the winter the hills are...More

The hike from the trailhead is somewhat hilly, but it is worth the ups and downs just for the views. Worth every step.

Beautiful vistas of back country mountains and meadows which easily accessible either by walking or by mountain bike. The preserve is pet friendly as long as dogs are kept on leashes. It is adjacent to open range ranches so don't be surprised if you encounter...More
