The National Park has paths for visitors. We selected the short route because it was really hot and humid. Got to see three dragons which was exciting. However the large number of "stalls" selling over priced items of dubious quality coupled with legions of begging...More
Following my misersble adventure on Rinca I had high hopes on Komodo. Because we slept on board and arrived at island 8am ish.
Yes dragons should be more active. Compared to Rinca Komodo is more forest. I saw 4 at the watering hole. 1 at...More
We did the mid-length tour (they have short, medium, and long walks available). We were very interested in seeing the dragons, so in hindsight, we would have preferred to do the long walk, but nobody consulted us.
We had a really excellent guide with the...More
You can get cool pictures and see the dragons, but it’s pretty lame as far as an adventure. Packed trails with throngs of tourists. The hike, besides the dragon viewing spots, are a waste of time because of trampled nature and some dead palm trees....More
The Komodo island offers a great experience of the wild jungle. The walk through the national park allows you to experience the rich biodiversity of this area. It is worth enjoying this walk without getting overly distracted by the urge to see its most famous...More
We visited Kimoto Island from a cruise ship on an organized tour with a couple hundred of our new best friends. It was HOT.
People from the ship were organized into groups of about sixteen people. Each group had a tour guide to narrate our...More
Seeing the Komodo Dragons is a unique experience. They are no where else in the world. If you had the chance, why would you not take it?
We were on a tour off of a ship and it was good. Komodo Island is hot and...More

It was great to see these animals, but they were all located right at the ranger station. We saw them in the first 5 minutes on the island and then we did a hike after. We didn't see any more. The hike was nice, but...More

Are you arriving in Flores by boat? Most of the tours are done from Labuan Bajo by small boat but if you are on a cruise liner doing the islands then yes you can get off at Komodo or Rinca and they will do a tour for you right there and then with plenty of guides just waiting for the boats to arrive. You have to pay an entrance fee to enter any of Komodos islands and then a nominal guide fee. There really isnt too much to see on either island and Rinca has the most dragons. We saw maybe 10 on Rinca and only 2 on Komodo. My suggestion would be if you are getting off the boat in Labuan Bajo, find a tour operator who does a 2 day,1 night trip and you will see some outstanding sights other than just the dragons.Padar Island is a must with spectacular views.Komodo National Park is stunning
