The water is very turbulent here I doubt you would want to swim. But it is the prettiest beach I've seen. Large crashing waves, sandy beaches, and huge rocks. Go to Coronado Island for a calm beach experience:-)

This is a must see place while in San Diego, if you ever cared about the 60's and surfing! Tough place to find a place to park, but just driving by the 'Grass Shack' will bring back memories of Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello! A...More

I love this little beach area in La Jolla. It is mostly locals that live nearby or surfers. It is a beautiful and peaceful area in La Jolla. You can find street parking here in the Summer if you are visiting and walk a few...More

I don't know if you can find a more beautiful beach in all of La Jolla! Clean and beautiful beach that didn't seem to be too crowded

If body boarding is your thing, this place has shore breaks, be extra cautious on big days. It has a reef break here for surfers too, but it's not that big of an area, so be prepared to compete if your up for it. Hanging...More

As far as we can tell, this is one of San Diego's quieter beach spots. It's nestled in a residential neighborhood. Very few services, but a nice, natural stretch of beach with big boulders.

Nice beach with less people but very little parking . Bring all supplies with you since there are no services or restrooms . Lifeguards were not visible . Clean water and good surf .

Some of the best scenery at a La Jolla beach. The beach is down below the road, so be prepared to go down stairs to get to the sand. Great waves for boogie boarding and rocks for searching for little creatures. Some people fishing and...More

When you wind your way through the neighborhood, find street parking, and make your way down the bluffs to the scenic beach painted by local artists for its dangerous rocky coastline, you will find hidden below the surface of the water treacherous rocks navigated by...More

It'll be fantastic. We were there over New Year's, & while we didn't have an interest in braving really cold water, there were plenty of surfers and swimmers wearing wetsuits in the surf. June is perfect for most.

previous responders are accurate regarding hotels on the beach. We were blessed to be able to stay in an expensive boutique property right across the small beach road (nothing in this area is allowed to be right on the... More
