Beautiful beach! I think we walked about 3 miles. Had to walk on the sidewalk through some neighborhoods to get from La Jolla Shores to La Jolla Cove, but it's a beautiful walk and there is a nice trail to walk on when you start getting close to the Coves.

I just love this beach which has free parking. Nice long beach, showers, lifeguards, separate surfboard section, and regular, reliably sized rolling waves for great boogey boarding. Far enough away from LJ Cove so you don't worry about the smell of seal stink there, but near enough to admire the view. Kid friendly. One quick caution: the seagulls can be... More

I've hit Venice Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Monica... but La Jolla Beach is my favorite. Something about the atmosphere there, the crowds, the beach itself... just perfect. The free parking doesn't hurt, either! Rumor has it that seals frequent this beach. Sadly, no sea dogs were there during my 3-4 hour visit, but the sunset was just stunning. If you're... More

Huge beach area with restrooms, lifeguards, a playground, benches. People were walking and running on the beach, there were surfers and surfing classes, kayak groups were headed out, biking, etc. Plenty to do. I had read reviews that you could walk on the beach all the way to Black's beach and Torrey Pines but not the day I was there!... More

We had a wonderful day walking the beach and watching the surfers. We enjoyed a picnic while watching the sunset.

Best beach in La Jolla. Nice and wide with life guard protected swimming. Palm trees and a small park with shops close by. It's a natural bay so never really huge waves so good for swimming and families. If you'd like a nice cocktail, go to the roof top outdoor deck at George's overlooking The Shores.

Wide, sandy beach well maintained and ordered (separate areas for boarders, swimmers, etc.). Plentiful parking. Clean restrooms and showers. Very nice park, play area, picinic area. Everyone just having a great day at the ocean.

I have some mixed feelings about the Shores. The beach itself is very nice, an easy dive if you like to scuba and good surfing. Very nice kid play area and park. Nice shops and some good places to eat nearby ranging from ice cream to sandwiches to more upscale. Several issues during the summer months. Stay towards the south... More

This park is the launch point for the various kayak tours of the area. The beach looks pretty low key and family oriented. There is a playground as well as restrooms with showers. It's just a short walk to shopping and dining.
