Total disappointment! We paid admission for the entire museum, but only spent about 20 minutes there because, while in the first room of about 15 pieces, they closed off the rest of the museum! When we paid, the woman who took our money said all but one room was open. Now, just 20 minutes later, all but one room was closed to change out one exhibit. When she found out I came from Pennsylvania, she offered me a free book (they were charging $1 for the books) and the best advice: Orange County's art museum is FREE admission. Seemed like amateur hour. And those 15 pieces weren't even that great -- kinda looked like art school projects. I got the idea they have enough money that they don't have to be too nice to paying customers.

Currently a special exhibition of the early 20th century artist Radmond Granville. He was a deaf mute who said his deafness gave him special sensitivity to hear nature with his eyes. Excellent small museum

The display on the main floor of the gift of the private collection gathered by the former curator, Nancy D___ Wall M____, exemplified her excellent eye for good art, though it said she specialized in California art history. The rest of the museum was rather a waste of space and our time, I opine. It was barely worth the money for us.

I’ve been to many museums but this one stood out for the better. It has all types of art from complementary & modern to beautiful paintings. It’s a very clean, well organized space & you have a lot of room to study the pieces on display. If you love museums I recommend this gem highly. It’s quite, clean & uncrowded plus the staff are very friendly. Please Hit The Helpful Button if this helped you. Thanks friends & travelers

This was billed as an exhibit on what it means to be white. HA! It was a total attack on the white community. There was an especially offensive piece depicting Sunday in The Park, only with an image of two naked white people caught in a net and some hunters with rifles saying they needed a bigger net. GIVE ME A BREAK! If this were displayed with any other race there would have been an outcry! As I was in the museum I looked around and thought "is there anyone in here that has discriminated against any other race?" I didn't see anyone there that needed to get the message the exhibit was trying to send. I have never discriminated against anyone in my entire life and I doubt if 90% of the people in OC have either. The only thing the white community is guilty of is being born white. Why are we being attacked for that? AND of course, if someone doesn't agree with what the Laguna Art Museum is doing with this exhibit then they will be labeled as racist. What was the purpose of this exhibit? I think the curator at Laguna Art Museum has some personal issues he needs to work on. Tyler, don't put your guilt on the rest of the world.

We visited on a weekday morning with two kids in tow. During our visit, there were three exhibits on three floors (all accessible by elevator). The museum recently expanded its permanent collection. There were people around to answer questions and a guided tour was in progress. The museum’s interior is attractive and filled with light. There are informative narratives next to each piece of artwork. The extensive background about the artists really added to the experience. We learned that many of the artists knew each other and were a part of a growing art community in Laguna Beach. There’s a gift shop near the museum entrance with a good variety of unique and interesting items. Definitely worth a visit!

Small museum with large collection of California art. Always interesting exhibits and films. Free first Thursday of every month during Laguna's ArtWalk.

California beach art is full of color and life. The Laguna Art Museum features art by local artists, often portraying local objects and landscapes. Most of the art is representational and beautifully done. The number of good Laguna Beach artists is substantial and this museum displays their work exceptionally well in bright, airy rooms. A visitor should not miss the second level accessed from the lobby. This museum is a must for art lovers.

Laguna is about art, food and the Pacific Ocean. I was drawn to this museum by the Peter Krasnow exhibit. Krasnow's paintings and sculptures took their own path. Bright colours, sensual and spiritual forms are beautifully curated. This museum set beside the sea and atop a palisade is a perfect site for an exhibit of this and other artist's work. Museum staff, from security guards to front desk volunteers are friendly. Definitely worth a visit, no matter what exhibit is being featured.

Worth a stop if you're tired of the beach or it's raining, or you want a change of pace. If modern art is your thing, you will be happier with it than otherwise. Some interesting and worthwhile things here, but a lot of nonsense as well. And the museum building itself is not particularly attractive, although the staff is friendly and it is easy to find your way around.

Even though the City of Laguna Beach is quite dog friendly, the Laguna Art Museum only allows service animals. No pets. I double-checked. That’s probably pretty typical of a museum though.
