About
After a year-long journey across North America, the Dream Wanderer mobile virtual reality gallery has found a new home in the high desert just outside Joshua Tree. You’re invited to climb aboard and immerse yourself in a “powerful and singular” virtual reality exploration of vivid dreaming, the afterlife, and spiritualism. The Austin Chronicle described it as "a virtual reality experience that’s on the weirder side of sublime, that’s eerie and personal and arranged like a beautiful immersive installation" and VICE Magazine found that it "shares a spirit with the 'happenings' staged by artists in the 1960s." So far, the Dream Wanderer has exhibited for over 25,000 people, including: art fair denizens in Miami and Mexico City; drunks, punks, and monks in New Orleans; surfers in Oaxaca; movie stars in Los Angeles; technophiles at Moogfest; poutine lovers in Ontario & Quebec; and dirt ravers at Burning Man. Will you be next?

Simply an amazing experience.

First and foremost the hospitality of this group is simply amazing. We asked them to come out for a private event in Landers and they showed on time and with some real thoughtful gifts. Aimee and Colin are both extremely sweet and accommodating, it was a pleasure to meet both of them. The actual VR experience blew all of our minds. This artist is extremely talented and if you are in the area it is a MUST DO. Thanks again for the wonderful experience. Hope to cross paths again sometime.

So very cool

Who knew this converted RV would deliver such a unique experience. I truly have never seen anything like it. It felt like wandering through the brains of a strange community, like someone was holding my hand as a moved through a world made to explore. This was the first VR experience that I didn't just shrug off as kinda neat but not that impressive. I was impressed. I was somewhere ELSE it seemed. Coming back to reality took some time. Very cool. Well worth a donation to the artist!

Beautiful and mind expanding experience

From the playas of Oaxaca to the playa of Black Rock City, Nevada the dream wanderer has been such a beautiful part of my life. I took a 85 year old indigenous Zapotec to experience the Dream Wanderer and it gave me as much satisfaction looking at his smile as the experience was for myself. You will not regret seeing this mind expanding experience.

WE NEVER DIE
Oct. 2017 • Solo
Welcome to the Dream Wanderer, your first Virtual Reality experience.

You step out of the Bar At The End of the World — where a few locals swivel or slump, hands wrapped tight around beer mugs -- into a star-filled fall night in the desert, crunch dust beneath boots, + enter the refurbished Ford Econoline turned art installation, sit in the cold wire chair, pull your fake fur nomadic-year Uruguayan coat closer around your chilled body, while the man — who’s driven this vehicle cross country, to Mexico, parked in remote beaches + small nowhere towns, delivering dreams to anyone who’s curious enough or brave enough to enter — offers you a deck of cards to choose your trip.

You pull three —
WE NEVER DIE,
LET GO AND LET GOD,
+ GLASS LAKE —
+ you shiver in anticipation.

Or is it fear.

The man slips the VR vest around your neck, places the heavy goggles over your eyes. You see nothing.
Will this even work?

“Make sure to look in every direction,” he says. “Breathe,” he says. “Here we go.”

You are in the mouth of a crater, looking up.
A sun-dazzling sky spills from above.
Wait.

You are falling.
Slowly.
Slowly.
Inexorably.

You drift down, down, down what now feels like the inside of a glass-and-steel building. Now stars + night sky are all around you.

All the while, voices tell tales of speaking w/the dead, or visiting other dimensions.
It is the spiritualists of Lily Dale, the mysterious community in upstate New York.

Now you fly toward a cathedral.
Its spire pierces the sky.

You’re giddy with power + wonder.
You glide over glass lake waves until you’re lifted gently up into the belly of the mothership.

By the end of 8 min, your soul shifts.

The above is a taste of my first ever Virtual Reality experience in the magical, mystical Dream Wanderer.
It was so amazing, I invited the DreamWanderer to come park at the location for the next retreat I run, Jan 6, 2018, in magical Joshua Tree!
It's called the Dream Maker and Sou Shaker transformation writing retreat.
What could be a more perfect way to get participants ready to dream-make and soul-shake than this incredible VR experience.

If you get a chance, do not miss this mind-blowing soul-stirring, moving experience!

Beam me up!

Wow! what an experience. Both eye opening but also relaxing at the same time. Taking in the lucid dream visuals and the interviews from the psychics real took me to another place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a "spiritual" experience in the desert. Great use of VR. So glad Colin was on hand to introduce Lily Dale and to also talk about it all afterwards. Still thinking and still feeling it....

Enjoyment for your Eyeballs

Floating throughout landscapes, paintings and sculptures like a lucid dream, the Dream Wanderer is a visceral experience that is simultaneously meditative and soothing to somewhat eerie. The experiences keep developing over time becoming all the more grandiose.

Breathtaking and Immersive

The Dream Wanderer experience set my standard for VR extremely high. The visuals were incredible and the story lines told within the exhibit were truly unforgettable. The themes and variety of the stories were touching and relatable. Afterward I felt simultaneously at peace and also reeling with questions. I felt so inspired by the amount of work that went into creating the experience, it was truly stunning. I would recommend the Dream Wanderer to anyone as it was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The Dream Wanderer has mastered the art of transforming its viewers to another place.

VR + Desert = what are you waiting for?
Oct. 2017 • Friends
I've had the opportunity to view virtual reality experiences a number of times. Even if you're skeptical of techy stuff, Dream Wanderer is a great introduction to what VR can do – taking the participant outside of their environment and focusing on the artistic possibilities of this relatively new media form. I was able to view it in Landers, CA and the desert environment really lends to the surreal qualities of the experience. Because of the structure of the piece, multiple viewings don't get old ..so go...and go again. It's always a fun time. AND Landers Brewing Co is near by, so afterward you can stop for a drink and share you're experience with the locals.
