My wife and I live in Southern California and have visited many of the missions. This is, by far, our favorite. Once you pay to enter the state park, you are free to visit all parts of the mission. This mission has large fields with...More

This mission is out of the way and truly keeps the feel of what it was like in the old mission days. Never crowded and surrounded by open chaparral...

Great history lesson showing how the Franciscans lived here in the 1800s. Rooms are furnished and shops are set up so you can see how this mission worked. Take the time to visit the visitor's center where your questions can be answered. The mission opens...More

Our favorite Mission is located in San Juan Capistrano but this Mission may have moved to #1. We enjoyed the simplicity, live animals, the wide open spaces and their Visitor Center. A bonus is the 25 miles of hiking trails to explore. We toured on...More

Mission is very well reconstructed...everything is open and available to see...has a good visitor center and grounds...even the many plants have signs explaining their uses to the Indian population. Well worth your time to experience 19th century mission life.

One of my favorite mission. It is located with so much acreage around it that you can hike for miles. It is just like stepping back in time. Very authentic with sheep, cows and horses!

I've driven by here many times and have never had time to stop. Today while out for a motorcycle ride I decided to visit the mission. What a treat! Walking around the mission grounds was perfect with plenty of signs explaining the buildings and other...More

This may be the best mission to visit. It's not the fanciest, or the biggest chapel, doesn't have the prettiest gardens, but it is out in the country and has a lot of land, along with some animals, so it is probably best at giving...More
