About
Quirky shops, souvenir stores and restaurants line this popular waterfront boardwalk, which also features a carousel and fun zone for kids, live entertainment, beautiful views of the city and dynamite sunsets.

We did not find Long Beach as offering much for a family visit really. We had thought about the Aquarium, but it seemed a bit pricey (so we passed). Thought Shoreline Village looked appealing online, but it was not much at all. Did a little shopping at Pike Outlets and watched a movie . If you are a family going to LA on a family trip, let me suggest perhaps some time on Hollywood Blvd with a matinee at El Capitan Theatre, Universal City Walk (not so much the theme park), and the Grove/farmers market while staying at Magic Castle Hotel (2 days). Do one day at each Disney Park in Anaheim (2 days - although we did not do California Adventure Park, so I can really only speak for the one), and consider taking 2-3 days going down to San Diego (one day at beach and one day at Sea World). ... I would pass on Santa Monica Pier; I would pass on Universal Studios Theme Park; I would pass on Long Beach, and I would split the time between LA and San Diego. ... We did not do San Diego as a family on our trip out to CA, but I have been before my husband/father years and regret not taking the kids on our recent trip.

We came here because we have an extra hour before we need to head to the airport. It’s very crowded. So it shaved a star off my review. I think we will have a perfect experience if we come on a regular weekend. (We were there Labor Day weekend) We ate already before we came. Wish we didn’t. Then we can have a meal looking over the scenic harbor. My daughter loved the arcade. Parking is cheap as long as we can validate with one of the store. Long line for the family bicycles. Otherwise I’ll rent one and go around the shore.

After walking around downtown Long Beach (urban) then strolling around Rainbow Lagoon (outdoor park) we ended up at Shoreline Village (entertainment and dining) looking for dinner. Fun “seaside” village with tourist shops, ice cream vendors and restaurants. We opted to eat at Tequila Jack’s for dinner.

Very nice place to stroll around along the harbor front. Who doesn’t enjoy seeing the magnificent Queen Mary across the harbor and watching the sunset? Plenty of eateries and shops nearby, also. Definitely a popular place for tourists and residents alike.

Very unique area, but I do feel it could be a little better. Only handful of shops that all sold similar items. Ice cream parlor was delicious. It is a tourist trap.
I did like the locks đź”’ on the bridge that made it little more interesting. If you forget a lock they sell in the gift shop.

We visited Long Beach for a one night stay before a cruise ship departure and stayed in a nearby hotel. We were able to walk down to the Shoreline and enjoy the waterfront boardwalk, scenic views, and walk through shops and dine at restaurants. The area is safe and clean and provided hours of enjoyment the day before our cruise. There is also a shopping mall within walking distance. The next morning I got up very early and went back to the area and watched the cruise ships dock and unload. Cool to see your ship come in that you will be on in a few hours. Check this area out if you are here!

We had dinner reservations for Parker's Lighthouse that evening, so we spent some time at the shops here beforehand.
There are a few good little shops here, but not a ton. The hat shop was my favorite.
They also had a band playing that night, so we got to sit back and watch them for a few as well.

Soooo dirty. No good shops. Restaurants are not good or clean. This is a total waste of time and money. We went on a Saturday afternoon, sidewalks filthy, buildings filthy, worn down needs refreshing...just gross.

It was close to our hotel and was separate from the downtown Pine Street entertainment district. Shoreline Village have about 6 major restaurants, a few dessert places and then the tourist stores. As far as the restaurants they were various cuisines and all looked well liked by the customers.
I would sugget going to their web page and see all the stores that are there.

The stores are not very interesting, offering mostly things that tourists buy. We didn’t eat a meal there, so no comments about the restaurants. Finding a parking space was not a problem during our visit. We bought something at a store that claimed to validate parking. The validation turned out to be worthless, because we weren’t there for three or more hours.

Great Beach about a mile south with street parking.

We would love to spend time in Shoreline Village after our cruise. Is there someplace we can store our luggage while we walk about. Our flight doesn't leave until early evening giving us quite a bit of time there.
Written September 19, 2017
Sorry, there is no place to store your luggage. We arrived there a day early so the hotel took care of it,

From Shoreline Village, you can see the Queen Mary straight out toward the ocean. There is a free shuttle bus called the Passport that serves the downtown Long Beach area. It will take you from Shoreline Village to the Queen Mary at no charge. It runs from about 5:30 in the morning until just about midnight. It also takes you to Catalina Landing, where you can catch a boat across to Catalina Island. The shuttle can also take you to the Aquarium of the Pacific which is walking distance from Shoreline Village.

How near the port for the Catalina Express Ferry are you located? miles? blocks?

Is it walking distance from the Queen Mary Hotel?
Written February 23, 2015
Yes if you don't mind a scenic walk of just under 2 miles, takes about 30-45 mins or catch a bus, they leave QM Hotel approx. every 15 mins & takes around 10 mins

Written February 23, 2015
As TheTravelingKitchen stated, it is a very long walk - I did it, took about 40 minutes and I was walking very fast. Parking is validated by all the restaurants there, tons of places to eat. UBER will take you, or a cab if you plan to go late or drink, pretty reasonable price for that.
