The area

Neighbourhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

We landed in LA after a 13 hour drive and The Frolic Room was exactly what we needed!!
Joel the bartender is amazing!!
The atmosphere is great, everyone is made to feel welcome.
Don’t forget Joel if you’re ever in the UK visit The Rifleman Inn, Stoke on Trent.

This is a great bar. Looks like a dive from the outside (which I like to be honest) but inside it is really nice and cozy. Overall good, friendly service and you will meet some interesting people in this place. Was in the bar twice until closing.

My wife and I were visiting Hollywood October 2022. We saw Frolic Room Bar on Hollywood Blvd and I remember hearing about this bar from YouTube videos so I was so pumped to try it out! We went in super excited to try some good drinks. We sat down and asked the bartender for a cocktail menu, he replied we don’t have one. So I asked him to give us some options for cocktails that he could make so we could decide, he said “hey man this is a dive bar, we only do shots and beer so what do you want”. We just got up and left. This bar was mentioned many times online for its cocktails and even has cocktail in neon light in front. Disappointed all around.

OK, I used to live in Hollywood back in the late 80s-early 90s and was introduced to the Frolic Room by a homeless musician. I started hanging out and was soon hooked. I couldn't stay away! Besides having the most eclectic jukebox, the people are fascinating, the bartenders are awesome, and the vibe is so Hollywood-cool without being a trendy tourist trap. Wear whatever you want -- jeans or an evening gown. Listen to Black Flag or Frank Sinatra. Chat with stars, rising stars, fallen stars, and those who have never made it off the curb. I miss you, Frolic Room! Carol and Reuben rock.

What a tiny little place with a tiny little entrance with a big door man across from the W Hotel. I thought to slip and have ONE little cocktail and maybe squeeze myself over to the juke box for a little classic rock and roll. Well, 5 hours, 20 something songs, 30 bad bar jokes, 100 interesting people, 10 social chats, 2 bartenders, 1 birthday party, 3 autographs, 4 beers, 3 vodka tonics, 2 phone number exchanges and 1 big hug to the big door guy, later..... I, all by myself, had the very, very best time. I rarely if ever go to "bars" at my age. Thank goodness, THIS place is not local for me, as I would surely be an official barfly in no time. I owe some guy from a rock band a beer and should have tipped the bartenders, more. I'll have to go back & do that one day. All ages, a must go. I never knew ages 21 to 61 could have an absolute blast in one room. Well, there it is. Frolic Room rocks.

I was taken there one night by a nice girl that I had met and got along with down the road and soon as we walked in was surprised with the welcome we got it was around midnight and all the places at the bar were taken, When myself and the friend I was with got about half way 2 seats were made available to us cool as I thought. Bar service was fantastic so was the atmosphere. Will definitely go back there when I return to LA.
Cheers Brett from Hastings Point Australia.

This is a high traffic area dive bar. If you want a sleepy, cozy dive bar, this isn't it. All ages, cheap drinks and a mix of locals and tourists. Supposedly there are numerous celebrity sightings here, but the locals all look like they could be from a rock band that thrived a decade before my time.

If you like Neil Patrick Harris, his star is in front of the Frolic Room.

Be prepared to pay at least $10 to park in one of the lots in the area.

Me and my boyfriend live in Los Angeles county and when we go out, The Frolic Room is always a number one choice. Everytime we go, we meet interesting people, and by now, we've become regulars. We know the bartenders and the people that frequent the bar. It always turns out to be a good time. It's a hole-in-the-wall bar, but it's fun. It's perfect for getting your "last call" drink.

A terrific dive bar with a great staff that has been serving reasonably priced libations in a one of a kind atmosphere for decades. Not long after moving to L.A. in 1987, friends took me here for a few drinks after work. I've never stopped hanging out there. Despite the fact that tourists are there constantly, the joint has the feel of a locals only hangout. It's perfect for before or after the Pantages, a show at the Avalon, or Musso & Frank. And like any good Hollywood spot, you never know who you'll be belly up to the bar with on any given evening. Or morning, for that matter. For me, the Frolic Room is a must for any first time visitor to Hollywood.
