They EGyptian paintings on the wall have NOT diminished over time

Even the columns do not appear to have a scratch on them. Much like the Egyptian pyramids that are still standing on this day. I was led by local guide who lives in the area who... read more

This location is affordable and strands out in a hidden slot down the Hollywood strip. They were playing German movies with English subtitles at $12.00 a ticket witch is simply perfect if you enjoy that type of vibe. The scent of popcorn literally brought me though the doors. Location is a 5 stars

A little old Hollywood horror flick to set the Halloween spirit. The Wolfman starring Lon Chaney on the big screen in a theater from a bygone era...PERFECT! The ceiling alone speaks volumes of the history in this old jewel. No Dolby surround or IMAX here. But for the film buff it is heaven. True quality as film was meant to... More

This is a great golden area Hollywood theatre currently home to the American Cinematech program. The program is a repertory film society and they show themed classic and modern films with lots of great guests. I wish I had time to go more often the films are always well preserved and presented flawlessly. The theatre itself is beautifully preserved.

Even the columns do not appear to have a scratch on them. Much like the Egyptian pyramids that are still standing on this day. I was led by local guide who lives in the area who told me that the Academy Awards used to be on this site which was built in a lemon grove...Now it is still used today... More

Went to see a movie with my son and we happened onto a mini film festival. It was great fun. The building is beautiful. Old Hollywood luxury. Sound is good, which is important. One caveat: I parked in a lot near the theater and didn't have the required cash. I used an ATM in the lot (I know, dumb idea)... More

This majestic edifice is living art. It is one of the great symbols of the Golden Age of the Silver Screen which is a work of absolute architectural beauty. I have enjoyed many premiers here and even those that were duds did not ruin the great experience of just visiting this palatial landmark. You can't really visit Hollywood and miss... More

We went to this theater during the TCM Film Festival and had a great time! The theater itself is spectacular and a good place to watch a movie. My only complaint was that the seats on the main floor are rather narrow, if you're heavy they'll be tight. However the seats in the balcony are of a more standard size... More

This is a jewel of a building - one of the mist beautiful cinema ceilings I have ever seen. The programming is also very good with some excellent screenings, Q and A's etc. But be warned the staff or volunteers are not well organised and the booking systems for screenings impossible if you do not have a US bank account.... I really loved the theatre as it was covered as a part of the walking tour. This theatre has got some of the really nice artwork.

It was hyped as one of the best parties for NYE in LA - not so much. The party "started" at 9 but even though we already had tickets, we waited in line for almost an hour - in the cold (yeah, it was actually cold in LA). The main party was in the courtyard without enough space heaters, again,... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
