The best part of our walk down sunset boulevard was running into a little convenience store called the Pink Dot and crossing the street to eat while we were looking over the Los Angeles skyline. The Guitar Center was also pretty cool. Otherwise, not much to see or do. And if you have any compassion for the homeless, which we do, it was very difficult to see their circumstances and then to see people driving million dollar vehicles within blocks of each other.

We had a rental car and drove the 22 mile length of Sunset Boulevard. Although seeing the street at one spot may not be that impressive, in its entirety it is a lovely drive. From downtown LA to Hollywood, then toward the ocean and the Pacific Coast Highway. Just bring your patience, there was a lot of traffic.

It keeps getting better. Thirty years ago it used to be a very seedy area. Over 90% of that is now gone. We enjoyed walking about ten blocks on Sunset Boulevard and viewed other portions by car.

Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles is iconic, a street that goes through Holly wood, Beverly Hills, UCLA, and the Pacific Palisades, winding up at the Pacific Ocean at Pacific Coast Highway, where a beach restaurant named Gladstone's is.
But besides all the places of interest, it was originally named Sunset Boulevard because if you drive towards the west along the street at around sunset, the sun will be right in front of you, setting in it's romantic reddish orange glory. (I actually went at a date different from what I've listed , so I am not sure if the seasons change the sun's positioning significantly above the road, so please check that if you wish, but it is quite a romantic drive into the sunset while passing by all those spots of interest, if you start out from near downtown and go all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The drive is full of turns, though, so be careful.)

Sunset Boulevard is a famous 39 km thoroughfare in Los Angeles it is a must that we have all seen in movies a mythical place where it is good to walk it is a very touristic place where mix many neighborhoods all as well known as each other. Sunset Boulevard which, from Hollywood, allows to reach the Pacific Ocean and admire the sunset at dusk, hence its name sunset meaning sunset. Sunset boulevard was very well known by the movie pretty woman, it is also a hotspot of American nightlife with bars and nightclubs very well known.

Our hotel was located right in the heart of Sunset Boulevard. The location is very convenience to access for food purchase. Many restaurants and pizza shops located along Sunset Boulevard. You will never worry about "food problem" in late night. MOst of them are open until midnights or later. Also, one tip that i have to tell you, Mondays is not "NO Food Day". The location where my hotel at, the restaurants are closed on monday nights. However, there is another problem i have to mention here is the community safety problem. DO NOT LET YOU FEMALE FRIENDS GO OUT BY THEMSELVES AT NIGHT!!! THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS!!! One day, we went out for food pickup at nigh. We pull over the car by the sidewalk, i step out with another female friend to the restaurant for pick up. The distance between our car and the restaurant was about 10M away. There was a creepy homeless guy smiling and looking at us, made us feel uncomfortable. We ignored him and ran into the restaurant quickly. 5 mins after, that creepy guy didnt gone and still starring at restaurant door waiting for us to come out. We scared and can't just go out like this. Unfortunately, two of us left cellphones in the car, can't call on another two friends who stay in the car. and we need help to go out. We told the restaurant manager about it, that guy was nice, let us borrow his cellphone, and walk us back to the car safely!!! THank God!!! That was the most horrible experience in my trip. In the day, we don't see many homeless people or beggars walking around in the street; but at night times, there were alot, they kept asking you for a quarter of change. If any of female travelers are planning to visit Sunset Boulevard, just be aware of you own secure!! Stay Safe!!

Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood is an attraction by itself, but there are many other entertainment trivia attractions along the way. The best of Sunset for me is the drive west through Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bellaire. Try taking a right turn on one of those tree-lined streets going north from Sunset and see where many of the stars live and have lived for decades. Then get back to Sunset and continue westerly all the way to the Pacific Ocean and Malibu. The ride through Malibu Canyon along the way is beautiful. Once at the Ocean, turn left and drive down to Santa Monica Pier. Ideally do this journey in a convertible top auto or a motorcycle. This is California dreamin'

this enormous street goes from the city to los angeles up to the pacific coast highway.... a gorgeous street ...it starts in the very center, neglected and seedy, goes through korea town up to west hollywood (getting better) then beverly hills and brentwood via ucla to pacific palisades up to the pch. fantastic mansions on 10000s and super views at the very end. you might go up to malibu after crossing the whole city of los angeles
love it (avoid between 4 nd 7 pm (rush hour kills your patience:))))

For such an iconic place the reality of experiencing it is much different! But then I guess it depends on what time of day you go, what is going on, what was in the water that day!
I love to run and have run up and down this boulevard maybe a dozen times. Every time different. It's full of independent businesses and the big brands, it's old and new. It's clean.. most of the time.
Stopping at a different coffee shop/restaurant/café each time is the best bit. You never know what you are going to get. The mafia style Italian guy serving only double shots for $2. The coolest coffee cats that are strait out of a Burberry advert knocking up supermochaskimmedtrimmedlottalatte! The guy that shouted at me for looking at his bull dog because he had issues and had just come out of counseling... the dog that is!
Go, take it in, and be glad you are you!

I've taken visiting family and friends here many times. This is not what you think it should/could be. It's dirty, rundown, unsafe, smelly, unpatrolled(!!!), and you won't see a single movie star unless you happen to be there during a movie kickoff event. Otherwise, it's just a tourist trap overrun by a concentration of the worst elements of society. You'll get hounded by vagrants, panhandlers, filthy superheroes, fake "musicians" selling blank CDs, and countless tour bus sales people...all while enjoying the environment of urine odors/stains and third rate shops and restaurants. So if you're really intent on seeing some sidewalk stars, you're at least now armed with my precautions. The city has failed to make this what it was intended to be. It's well overdue for a cleanup, some proper licensing requirements, and enforceable standards that remain enforced by a continuous police presence. If LA wanted to make it fun and clean, they'd dress the enforcers in movie attire with LAPD arm bands: cowboy sheriffs, storm troopers, "mall cop" on segue, etc.

Hi could anyone give a rough estimate on how much a taxi would be from LAX to sunset Blvd-Hollywood guest inn?
Thanks
Written March 3, 2018
Probably would cost $60-$80 but could be higher if there's a lot of traffic (fees are based on both mileage and travel time). Worst traffic times are 7:00 am to 9:30 am and 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Do you know where can I spend the last day of the year, for example a big party like Times Square in New york but this year must going to be in L.A. , Santa Monica or also Venice, do you know some place or event for the 31st of december?

Hi
We were planning to drive the full length of Sunset Boulevard from its start right down to the ocean, believing it will give us a glimpse of lots of parts of LA including The Strip, the wealthy suburbs, UCLA , Pacific Pallisades etc. We have been deterred a bit though because we have read that many parts of the Boulevard are treacherous with hair pin bends and blind crests. Not being left-hand drive drivers to start with, this sounds a bit scary. Would really love some feedback from locals - is this an exaggeration or an understatement? How much of the road is like this and - especially - if so, where are these sections? Is there usually heavy traffic along the length of the road outside of Hollywood? If advice is to avoid Sunset, which road is best to get to Santa Monica?
Thanks heaps in advance.

Sunset is fine, keep the passengers on the curbside is a good way to remember things when you are driving. When you get to Santa Monica switch to Wilshire Blvd. Stop at El Cholo grab a bite to eat and then keep going down Wilshire to Ocean Blvd. Stop and watch the sunset, you can park here and sit on the bench. It's beautiful.
If earlier, keep on Sunset, as you get near the coast, keep an eye on your left and when you see the Self-realization fellowship pull in and take a break walking around the gardens. A little hidden treasure, then back on Sunset to the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) turn right and you are on your way to Malibu my friend. If you like to pack your schedule, call the Getty museum and see if you can get in that day. You will be going to the original Getty museum which has been renovated and worth your time seeing. Have fun, stay safe.
