Visited the Santa Monica Pier and Aquarium yesterday on a sunny 70 degree day. The views of the mountains to the bay are beautiful. Warm sandy beach was very inviting and not very crowded. The pier is retro, many burger, hot dog, ice cream, churro, funnel cake eateries. There are amusement rides and an arcade. The aquarium is near the... More

Had a nice bike ride on the beach path enjoying the nice breeze. Walked along the sand in the water with my mate.

Visited on a hot day. Walked along the pier & watched people enjoying the beach. Had a coffee in one of the many small cafes that surround the beach. Also watched young people enjoying beach activities

We live 500 metres from a beach with a Pier but nothing like this Pier. We went Good Friday and the place was packed, never seen so many people. The buzz around the place was amazing and the people were so friendly

Santa Monica Bay is beautiful, especially during the week when there are fewer people. Walk along Ocean Avenue and sit on the benches and just look at the ocean view or walk through the rose garden. This is a must if you are in this area!

Few places are more iconic SoCal than Santa Monica Bay. The Historic Pier is still a must-see attraction, even if you don't ride the rides. The well-groomed beaches provide an excellent SoCal experience. As with any beach parking, don't leave anything visible in your car.

I go running at least 3x per month along the cemented beach walk. I start all the way north at the start of the path on will Rodgers state beach then run all the way to Venice beach. All runs are fabulous, plenty of eye candy, beautiful beach sights, active people, pets, artists and sand. I think this is a... More

The pier has a few rides, but most of it is tourist tat, cheap stuff and more expensive than you would get elsewhere. It really is fine for a stroll around but dont plan anything around it really. Even the beach is touristy. But a lovely sunset around there so that is worth the trip to Santa Monica.

This statement totally stunned me. My daughter thought the pier was like a game, but she was absolutely in her element. The pier and the Santa Monica Bay make you feel like that. There are rides for the younger ones and you can walk from here to Venice Beach. Along the way we saw a inta-college volleyball match about 20... More

Essentially just a fun place in a beautiful location. The ride on the roller coaster is great value and a bit iconic, so worth doing. A fun visit!

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
