About
The Old Bank District offers an ever-growing array of restaurants, bars, galleries, retail and nightlife for the urban dweller. The historically-preserved neighborhood has become a community within itself, beginning with early rehabilitation of historic buildings and development within the area. In 2004, the City of Los Angeles recognized the community-building efforts of the Old Bank District.

Neighbourhood: Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

You almost feel like you are walking down a street on a movie set staged on a back lot at Disney or Universal Studios.
It does feel old and it actually is.
Might be worth a visit if you have the time.

We went to a restaurant in the area. It was quiet on a sunday. It was nice to walk around and take pictures.

The Old Bank Area is interesting to walk through if you're downtown, but doesn't merit a special trip to visit. Interesting old banks, some functioning and others converted to new uses. OK to do in the daytime, but the area gets pretty seedy after dark. ...

We did a walking tour through here and while the buildings are quite impressive, or would have been once, they have been let run down and most have been converted into crappy low cost apartments. Apparently the city is putting money into revamping the district so maybe in 5 years will be nicer.
