One of the wines smelled like formaldehyde. I've worked in pathology labs so I know what that smell is like. The wine that was discounted to $10 was tart. The woman pouring told us she was selling a lot of it and gave us a nasty look for calling it tart, but obviously there is a reason it was discounted.... More

The tasting room is currently located in Santa Ynez (no longer in Los Olivos). The wines were terrible! The servers could not answer any questions about the wines and were constantly looking in a notebook then reading the wine description to us. I totally disagree with the reviews online - skip this one!

Even if you are familiar with the multitude of tasting rooms in Los Olivos, chances are you never even knew about William James Cellars. This is because they are about as "boutique" as you can get without actually sitting in a winemaker's livingroom. You will find this little gem and their tasty whites at 2356 Alamo Pintado, tucked away inside... More
