Amazing trip in the American River, Class 3. We did a one day tour with my son's classmates (6th graders and some siblings as young as 8 years old). The trip was lovely and we felt safe, it was fun and the guides were all incredible. I felt fortunate to be in a boat guided by Shane Taylor. He was so fun, knowledgeable and incredible to be around. He took care of us while encouraging us to take advantage of the river, swimming when it was safe, cooling off safely and pointing to all the beautiful nature around us. We hope to do this again, possibly a two day adventure next time. Thank you OAR and especial thanks to Shane.

An exceptionally well organized trip. Maddy did a phenomenal job as the trip leader, though all the guides were thoroughly professional, knowledgeable, and fun to be with – thank you Zack, Garth, Maggy, Max and Travis! As a team, they worked exceedingly well together, which really made for a suburb trip. Guest safety was clearly paramount, and handled very well indeed. The meals were varied, filling, nutritious and delicious, and the equipment was all first-rate. OARS is polished and thorough in their execution, and having led various wilderness trips myself, I can thoroughly recommend them without any reservations whatsoever.

Wow! What an amazing trip. From the ease of working with OARS to schedule, the friendly site navigation, the use of technology to sign our forms and such, the pictures from that day, and of course our guide (Felipe from Costa Rice) = 100/100 We did the Middle Fork of the American (after having done the South Fork with another company a few weeks ago) and it was rad! All of the guides, the drivers, the helpers, and the photographer were first-class. They made sure we were safe, hydrated, and having fun. Would recommend them to anyone seeking an adventure. On the river were everyone from young teens to 70+ The river is dam controlled which makes the water consistent. Rapids were mostly 4s. Tunnel chutes is epic. Another shoutout to Felipe for being amazing, super knowledgeable about the region's history, the plants, the animals.... he also knew how to give commands and to keep us operating the raft the right way (not all guides focus on this). Travis and Miller also super kind and good leaders. DO NOT WAIT to book!

Just concluded an unforgettable five day rafting trip on the Rogue River. I can’t recommend OARS more highly and we will definitely be back. Our guides, John, Josh, Jay and Trey led by Kate were incredible. They led us on a memorable journey through rapids, up mountains, into waterfalls, off rock jumps, down waterslides, and provided a delicious culinary experience culminating on our last morning with Eggs Benedict. Above and beyond.

Our tour guides from ROAM were truly exceptional and so well prepared with equipment,( including tarps for rain), served truly 5 star meals (think eggs benedict, steak, lamb, pecan crusted halibut, french toast, banana pancakes), and gave us so much history and great stories about the Tatshenshini River and the Yukon, British Columbia, Alaska area. They went above and beyond to accomodate everyone. We saw bears, moose bones and tracks and although we knew the animals were around, we never felt unsafe. Ashley, owner and lead guide was incredibly organized and a great leader for Whitney, Kyler, and Grace. I fell in love with all of them!!!! A real trip of a lifetime for me.

The experience with OARS on the American River is incredibly well done. The booking process was streamlined and easy. All pertinent information to have a comfortable and fun rafting experience was communicated in a timely manner. With so many different outfitters on the river you can see that OARS clearly provides the best experience. Our guide Jose the self proclaimed River God was just hands down a lovely human being who made our day special. He ensured everyone felt safe and knew the right balance of seriousness as well as humor throughout the day. He constantly checked in with everyone to make sure we were all comfortable and having fun. Being on the river is an incredible experience to begin with but OARS really makes it special.

Where do I ever begin? We had the absolute best time on our Tuolumne 1 day trip.
I have been dreaming of doing this trip for years but struggled to find friends who wanted to do this trip. I finally found my group and OARS made it worth the wait! Teal was absolutely incredible. He was so knowledgable about the environment and the history of the area, AND he made sure we had an epic time rafting. He continually set us up to hit the best rapids and honest, it was just EPIC all around. To add, our driver was incredible, food was really delicious and the equipment used was all top-of-the-line.

Fabulous experience with Dana (leader) and Laura (our guide). Really super fun. We did the half day down the south fork. I'm a safety freak and this trip exceeded my expectations. (Dana did such a great job on the safety talk that one of the boy scouts actually backed out!) I felt like safety was #1 at all times. There were exciting rapids, and places just to drift. We also got to jump in and float/swim in certain sections. Oh lunch was good too! Would recommend this to all ages - we had kids to 60's (us!)

From the awesome guides to the rafting, camping, food, it was an unforgettable trip. We loved everything about it. I would highly recommend this, even for someone who isn’t a fan of the outdoors. This trip will blow you away!

We did the Gorge Run of the S. Fork American River and had a blast, with Lizzie as our fantastic guide. We'd done a five day trip with OARS on the Rogue last summer and were happy to see that they are just as fun and safety-conscious on a one-day trip as on a multi-day run.

We also camped the night before at their outpost, which made life easy. My only complaint about this was that there were not many others staying there (a large group and one other small party), yet they assigned us to a (tiny!) site *right* next to the other small party.

Thank you for your feedback, stepknees, we love hearing that you had a great experience on the South Fork with us! There are a lot of factors that go into the site assignment for our complimentary campground, so I'm not sure what happened, but I will pass along your feedback to our operations team. Thank you for choosing OARS and we hope to see you on the river again.
