Ryan was an awesome guide for our family of four. He was very experienced and did some cool maneuvers with the raft. Overall we are very satisfied with the trip. However just be careful if you decide to change the date because we were charged $30/person for changing our booking to two days later. That’s very steep. I can understand if they charge $5/person. But $30 is way too much.

I highly recommend the 22 mile run! Our group of three had the best time on the river. We had a great guide (Korina), a simple but tasty burger bar lunch, and fun raft mates. Everyone got along very well and we all had a blast. We ended up using splash jackets because it was chilly for most of our run, it even rained for a short time before clearing up. The cold drinks at the end of the run were welcomed and appreciated. We purchased our rafting tickets through Groupon. We bought the photo package that included all three rapids ($100.) FYI bring some cash, there is a parking fee of $5. Please, don't forget to tip your guide.
I almost gave 4 stars because the parking fee felt a bit forced when there wasn't any other place to park (should be included in the ticket price), and the photo fees are expensive.

Did a full 21 miles South Fork. Our guide was Zim and he was fantastic! He's creative to come up with his own 'rapid' to add more fun to our trip. Our arms were tired near the end and he had to paddle all by himself - greatly appreciate it! I intend to try Middle Fork with this Company again.
Also, loved the deluxe camping - personal space, thick mattress pad, close to showers/restroom etc. Am not sure if the sleeping bag is really freshly cleaned as it had a sweaty smell. But I would definitely do deluxe camping again.

The rafting itself was good but the organization was absent. Good thing i've read some info in the email beforehand because when we arrived, nobody told us anything; anyone we found with the company's logo, had no idea or any information. We asked-"what do we do? Where do we go? Who is our guide? Who do we give our papers to? when do we depart? what's going on?" = all of these questions went unanswered. In the end (1.5hrs in) we finally found someone (supposedly the leader) who handed us off to another guide who barely spoke any English and also did not know what is going on. So that's how our journey started, with little explanation and no clue to what's happening. Even the guides looked confused and couldn't figure out who's taking whom and which boat we are going on. During the journey, they could not answer any of our questions or give clear directions, didn't know the time, distance nor the location either. When we arrived, we had to wait for the bus like half an hour, because the bus apparently was running late too and had no idea what's going on either. So that was our "clueless" journey. The rafting itself is fun, but i'd advise to go with a more "organized" and knowledgeable company.
P.S. The food could have been better also. It was the cheapest kind of cheeseburger (or veggie burger) one could find in a dollar store. And another question in my mind- why feed before and not after a 4hr rowing journey?

The river run itself was awesome and we really enjoyed our guide Devin, who we'd give 5 stars to if this review was solely based on him. He was extremely knowledgeable and a really fun guide. We felt safe and secure the entire river run.
The 3 stars are because of drawbacks that will probably make us choose a different company next time: They seemed extremely unorganized. We were told to be there at a specific time early in the morning, yet we stood around for an hour waiting for instructions. The lunch provided consisted of a small hamburger with a stale bun, a bag of chips, old fruit that was inedible, and a bag of cookies and a soda. I was told on the phone that it would be a smorgasbord style lunch with lunch meat, cheeses and vegetables to choose from. It was not. My husband has food restrictions and they made no effort to accommodate him. We were told in no uncertain terms that he couldn't bring anything with him, yet when we stopped for lunch, we realized we were just yards from our car and he was able to get food from our cooler. It wasn't explained that we were to be taken up river by bus, and that we would float down back to our original spot for lunch, then get back on the river and float further. Also, there was a tip jar for the cooks, but obviously, no one had any cash on them so it sat empty. At the end of our run, we were bused back to their site, and we wanted to tip Devin, but he was nowhere to be found. Evidently, the guides go immediately to tend to the rafts, which makes it unlikely that they have the opportunity to be tipped. Thankfully, my husband searched the site and found him to tip him. This could have been avoided if the guides were able to say goodbye to their guests when they got off the buses and were given time to go to their cars to retrieve some tip money. It was all very unorganized and if I was a guide, I'd be very disappointed in how they run the logistics of the company.

We had a fantastic time. We booked with whitewater connections with a groupon, totally recommend. My husband and I took our 9 yr old daughter and 11 year old son, they had a blast also. The South Fork Chili Bar Express was the perfect beginner trip, the rapids were not scary and were just bumpy/fast enough to be exciting and splash us a bit, and we felt safe. Our guide, Slate, was friendly and cheery and explained everything really well to us and we felt that we were in good hands. The other boats had some even younger kids and less experienced people and they did fine also. It was a great time and we can't wait to do it again, next time with the Chili Bar trip that is longer than the Express, as our guide says that one has some more rapids, although the express covers some of the best ones. Also, everyone else at the company was very helpful and cheery with smiles all around. I highly recommend this experience and this company, we were very happy with them and had a great day.

Awesome full day south fork rafting trip. Our guide Steve was a pro - kept the raft in control but still made it exciting for the two 12 year olds in our group. It wasn't a lazy river ride - Adults got a workout too! The whole day was very well organized. Check-in was quick, shuttle buses were ready to go, burgers for lunch and no long lines. Highly recommend AWA!

We did the Chili Bar part of the South Fork with Action Whitewater. It was just the 4 of us in a raft with the guide which was nice. We were doing it with a 7 and 10 year old, and our guide was great with the kids. The lunch at the end was nice. There is a bus ride at the beginning for about 20ish minutes; it was pretty full with people but everyone was masked. Would definitely do it again!

Rafting has become an annual trip for us and I wasn't sure how it would be during Covid. They made sure they took a lot of precaution: took our temperature upon arrival, made sure we wore masks on the bus trip and served our food at lunch. Devon was our guide and he was great. Super friendly and fun.

This company is all about safety, most of our party of 7 have never rafted before, so this was a good introduction to white water rafting. We did the South Fork chili bar, lunch was included and not bad at all. Our guide Ivan from Peru, was funny and was an experienced guide. I highly recommend this company. No issues with booking specially since I booked last minute.

Has anyone used a groupon for this company yet?

Can you take your camera when on the river?
Written June 5, 2017
You can, if it is waterproof and if you have a way to attach it to your body so you won't lose it. But really, you will be way too busy paddling, to be able to use it. At Troublemaker, the last and biggest rapids on our Half Day Chili Bar run, they had people with cameras set up to take pictures of the rafters. After we got ashore, we went to their little hut and viewed the pictures on their computer. The photos were great, and available to buy. They gave us a great price and put the photos on a flash drive. I used them to make an 8x8, 20 page Shutterfly book.
I always get thirsty, so I took my Klean Kanteen water bottle, which had a shoulder strap. Our guide tied the strap to the raft. I never took a drink. I never thought about taking a drink. I would not have been able to put the paddle down and untie the strap to get at the water anyway.
I wore Neoprene gloves because my fingers freeze easily. I also wore a tiny fanny pack so that if the gloves didn't work out, I could put them in the fanny pack. Of course the fanny pack wound up having to be worn under my life vest. I could not have gotten to it if I had wanted to (I didn't).
An ALL DAY trip would be different, I imagine.

What's the expected/appropriate tip for your guide on a half day trip? I want to make sure I have cash on hand. Thanks!
