Our time spent with River Runners over Labor Day exceeded all my expectations. My husband and I went with our two teenage daughters (15 and 17)..which is never easy.
The staff is exceptional and made every experience positive and enjoyable. The meals were prepared to order and delicious thanks to Sarah. Chris' Safety talk" was entertaining and hilarious while still focusing on the importance of safety at all times. John, our raft guide, brought 21 years of experience to every aspect of our time on the river. He showed us where berries were hidden, explained the history of the different tribes, gold rushers and early settlers in the area and shared his personal experiences on the river and his vast travel adventures. Our family was matched up with two other male guests with who we instantly hit it off! During the slower times when the river was calm, jokes and stories were shared and during the more active times, laughing, screaming and friendly heckling was a must!! John knew how to keep our conversation easy and flowing and even the teenagers were engaged and were participatory. My older daughter was tentative about the more advanced river classifications and John assured her he would never do anything to scare her. He was true to his word and gained her trust as the days continued, My younger daughter was more fearless and John challenged her to do even more adventurous activities. As parents, we felt completely comfortable having our family under John's care both on and off the river. We can't say enough about the accommodations and the professionalism of the entire River Runner team. We will most definitely be back!

If you are looking for the gold nugget in whitewater rafting companies look no further than River Runners. The operation is 1st class from the friendly, knowledgeable, and professional guides, to the beautiful and tranquil Camp Lotus on which River Runners is situated. The guides have decades of experience amongst themselves and are true stewards of the American River. Their knowledge and passion of the river and its surrounding history permeates the rafting experience and you will be left with an excitement of your own after rafting with River Runners.

Our family of five from San Diego felt lucky to get the best guides on the river. They gave us time to swim, jump off rocks into the water, and float on our backs down the river when we wanted to. No hurry. Just nature and fun. Loved it! Shane Sullivan

Highly recommended. Loved the down to earth and family feel of RR. Chris our guide made it 5 stars. He was fun, educational and made it more than a transportation down the river, he made it an experience. Lots of laughts, sun and cold water. Thank you!

5 Stars for sure! My family and I had the BEST time rafting with our guide, John. He made it so exciting for us that we want to return less than a month later!! Definitely choose River Runners for the most skilled guides who are kind and into giving you and your family the best experience!

Our group did the lower fork and had a blast. During the middle of the week there is not that many rafts on the river. Great time to go. It's like having your own private river.
The staff at River Runners take their time and let you enjoy the day. They had an excellent spread for lunch too. Highly recommend using them for your raft trip.

We ranged in age from 8 to 65 and had a great time. Most of us were first-timers and we had no trouble. Prepare to get soaked.
John and his wife are very gracious and treat everyone like family. It's definitely a very laid-back atmosphere.
One nice thing about this company is that they take their time going down the river. You also are not required to wear a helmet.

I have done multiple trips with River Runner's & each experience has been amazing. I've also done many trips with other companies but this is a family-owned business Sarah, Jon (ownrers & world class guides) take a Hands-On approach & try really hard to make sure every guest has a great time. South Fork (upper and lower) is awesome but my personal favorite is the Middle Fork! I would highly recommend you try them all it's well worth it!

Been rafting with River Runners for a few summers and they never disappoint! All the guides are safe, strong, good-natured, and very experienced. If you have never been rafting before, this is your best bet for a safe experience where you will actually learn how to get down the river safely.
Joe T. has been our guide for years and he is exceptional. Like I said all guides are outstanding, I've just always ended up in his group. You'll get to pull over in the raft and do a little diving off a cliff if you so choose. You'll experience the most beautiful scenery, with waterfalls, natural rock formations, and you'll even see some condors!
The camp itself is really great. Pitch a tent, play some cornhole, sit by the fire, skip rocks in the river, and eat yummy food prepared by your guides! Yes, they are good cooks.
Camp has showers, toilets, etc. Bring a headlamp or flashlight for walking through the campground at night.
