We spend 2 hours on this beach. And we saw 3-4 big whales out in the sea. A seal came swimming and played in the waves. We aslo saw a delphin in the sea. Big waves so we could not swim this day. A lot...More

We drove to Fort Ord State Park in early August after an overnight stay in Marina. We passed many of the old deserted Army barracks near the coast, and were able to learn quite a lot about the history of area through the displays at...More

It was a windy cloudy day when we visited Ford Ord. It’s near CSU Monterey campus. It is very sad to see the military base housing vandalized and uninhabited. A short walk to the gorgeous quiet uncrowded beach. Very peaceful. There’s portable toilet in the...More

We drive past the dunes all the time. And until recently, we had never actually gone to them. After reading that we could bring our dogs (so long as they remained onnleash and on the paved pathways), we decided to go. Its rich with history...More

Enjoyed an easy walk in the Fort Ord Dunes State Park. You can stay on the path and see historical buildings from Fort Ord or you can take a path to the beach. On a sunny day, you can't beat it.

I love this place. It's very well marked and quite breathtaking. Always good for an early morning hike.

Arrived in Marina, CA late afternoon and noticed on the map there was a state park nearby. I went to check it out and what a pleasant surprise. There's a little bit of a hike past the dunes to get down to a very nice,...More

Hi, I didn’t see any bike racks. This is more of an access to the beach. You walk about a 1/4 mile on a sandy path to the beach. I would say give it a try just in case there are bike racks.

Yes, but leashed (AKAIK). Just a tad south of there is Carmel-by-the-sea's beach, a gorgeous strand that is totally off-leash; it counts on great owners. Also nearby is a dog park in Seaside, newly opened, but I have yet to... More
