Wonderful, short walk to a beautiful coastal spot above a tranquil beach. Great spot to check out the scenery without the crowds.

Another beautiful spot along the Mendocino coast. A smaller spot. A 2 mile loop to the pygmy forest. Not a great place for a picnic.

We hiked Russian Gulch the day prior and found this park to be lacking in the many aspects in comparison. We were hoping that the ecological stairway would be more inspiring but found it to be 5 wooden fights of stairs going onto a paved...More

Jughandle State Reserve fits nicely into the many state parks and reserves along the northern California coast. It doesn't have much that is unique or different. What it does have is excellent examples of everything you want to find in a state beach reserve: amazing...More

Didn't know that this reserve existed until we was a sign for it. The hike is very interesting and passes through about 5 distinct habitats. It is an out and back over moderate terrain and the trail is well-maintained.

Very scenic, clean beach, you just need to be a bit lucky to get good weather, if the fog burns off and the sun comes out the scenery gets even better.

This was my first visit to Jug Handle and I was absolutely blown away by the coast, bluffs, beach and amazingly blue water. It was really a sensational stop and we didn't even have time for the pygmy forest hike. I love how the trails...More

It's a small beach but don't let that stop you. It's very beautiful and well worth the walk down the stairs. You can either swim, chase the waves or explore the rocks and tide pools on the left.
