This is a great river to kayak. Easy launching the boat and lots of parking. Wide river and a leisurely pace. A bit of a head wind at times when heading back towards the ocean, but we'll worth the visit.

This is a great place to stop and take a break from the road. The beach here is an inlet so you don't have the waves crashing around you. Enjoy it.

Blue Herons...seals...redwoods and the graceful beauty of Big River meeting the Pacific Ocean! The old logging road meanders back along Big River...great for walking, running or riding your bike!

The water is always super cold but you can let kids play there and even splash in the water yourself if you are careful.

Great place to walk the dog and kids. Very nice beach, especially at low tide. If you bring your canoe the river is a an easy paddle up and back.

Big River beach is beautiful, a real hidden gem. We found this on the 2nd day and spent most of the next day here. Worth a trip if you like the beach and the ocean.

We took a pleasant, relaxing 45 minute stroll along the Big River path. The path is easy to navigate with views of the river and trees. Though hoping for some wildlife, in September we saw only a few birds. The walk makes for a fine...More
