Great place to walk the dog and kids. Very nice beach, especially at low tide. If you bring your canoe the river is a an easy paddle up and back.

Big River beach is beautiful, a real hidden gem. We found this on the 2nd day and spent most of the next day here. Worth a trip if you like the beach and the ocean.

We took a pleasant, relaxing 45 minute stroll along the Big River path. The path is easy to navigate with views of the river and trees. Though hoping for some wildlife, in September we saw only a few birds. The walk makes for a fine pre-dinner or post-breakfast stretch.

A beautiful path to walk the changing scenery that is Big River. One minute the hot sun beats down then you you're cooled under that redwoods. If you have time, the folks riding canoes and kayaks looked like they had even better views. Either way, be sure to include the river in your Mendocino adventure.

We used Catch a Canoe - gorgeous, fun and informative. Nature at its best and easy to access. Mendocino rules.

We rode our bikes for the 1st time on the Big River Haul Rd today & discovered an almost perfect trail. Relatively flat & plenty wide enough to accommodate bikes, people & horses (no cars allowed). This is a well maintained dirt & gravel road. We rode out almost 7 miles, going from fog to sun then back again. What... More

Took the Catch a Canoe Eco solar tour. It was really peaceful and very pretty and of course less paddling.

My husband and I took this hike on our last day in Mendocino and intended to walk at least 5 miles in and then 5 miles out. By mile 3 the mosquitoes were so bad we had to turn around. Would have been great if we had used bug spray before the walk.

We rode our bikes along the old haul road. Located at the end of the parking lot. It was relatively flat dirt/gravel road. It runs along the river. There are several pretty vistas fo the river along the way. We saw many wild flowers along the road. Talked to a local who said they had ridden it only the weekend... More
