A friend with local knowledge drove me all around the extended area. I saw seals that looked like they were floating but they were resting on a submerged rock. Birds. Lovely (and expensive) homes overlooking the sea and golf course. And deer up close (these were unusual for me). Also stopped off at Monterey Bay Aquarium. Monterey Bay is a... More

I love that the whales and the sea otters are thriving here after near extinction in the past century. This area is one of my favorite places that we've been in the world.

Plenty of beaches and areas to get out and walk around. This is a beautiful area to watch the waves crash over the rocks.

The ocean in itself is beautiful! It was so much fun to see all the surfers ride the waves. Very entertaining. The only bad thing is there is limited parking. Hard to find a parking place. There was an interesting lighthouse to see also.

We used Monterey as a base for Big Sur, but it is stunning in it's own right. Take at least an afternoon to explore.

Wonderful weather and time 👌🏽 Great place to visit during the off season. The rain in Monterey is almost nonexistent. 😎

We have been to Monterey several times, we used to go there on our anniversay's. There lots of places to see and too do things. The ocean has some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

This is one of my favorite places in the world and there is so much to see and do that you could spend days along the bay and see a wide variety of wildlife, beaches, kelp forests, dive sites and more. One of my favorite aspect of the bay is tide pool exploration. Get a copy of the local tide... More

Much of the California coast is stunning and you may get to see animals in various places. The Monterey Bay has kelp and you are almost guaranteed to see animals (sea otters, dolphins, whales - seasonal, birds, sometimes sharks). It's a special place.

Though we drove to Monterey after driving up the PCH / big sur for the aquarium. An unexpected find was a costal walkway all the way round to Santa Cruz and the other direction. I ended up taking the shorter route past Lovers Point, and found the views breathtaking.
