It's small enough to be comfortable

Monterey fisherman's wharf is just the right size. You can see all the boats, seals, and tourist shops you want with out being overwhelmed. Lots of crab and clam chowder too... read more

Chowder, calamari, crab cakes and the macadamia nut crusted halibut are what we always order. We are never disappointed!!! The service is exceptional and the view is very nice. If you can, leave room for one of their cheesecakes, which are fantastic (creamy).

This area was so cute and so much fun to walk through. There are a bunch of places that will let you sample clam chowder as you walk by. Many have great views while you eat but scales and the grotto have common ownership so their menus are basically the same.

To be honest it is very very similar to the cannery. Plenty of tourist sops but they are more interested in the tourist. Restaurants have beter deals which is good for the families, it is also within walking distance to the city center

Monterey fisherman's wharf is just the right size. You can see all the boats, seals, and tourist shops you want with out being overwhelmed. Lots of crab and clam chowder too. Whether you eat at a quick stand up counter or a more elegant restaurant you can have the whole fisherman's wharf experience in just the right amount of walking.... More

Not the best use of my time. Too many seafood venues all vying for your business which created way too much car calling and barking. Awful bathrooms.

The area around Fisherman's Wharf was obviously a hive of work related activity in past days and is now a hive of tourist related activity. The seals continually bark and vie for the best basking position under the pier and the tourist shops sell a variety of tourist memorabilia on top of the pier including cutting edge tee-shirt designs. Whilst... More

This is probably the closest thing you'll get to a boardwalk in this area. Nice area for souvenirs. A good stop if you're in the area.

Great outdoor strolling...fabulous views of Monterey Bay. Fun to try out different clam chowder samples provided by the various restaurants. Wonderful array of fresh and affordable seafood restaurants. Great place to take a boatride or sail out on the bay. Plenty of reasonably priced parking with a great walking and biking path to Cannery Row and the Aquarium.

Fishermans Wharf in Monterey is a fabulous place to just relax and enjoy the great local Clam Chowder and watch the Seal Lions playing in the bay. If you're lucky you may even spot an Otter. The Wharf almost has a sideshow theme to it with lots of restaurants and little ice cream and lolly shops. The food is also... More

Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf are both "tourist attractions". Cannery Row has gone upscale but it would appear that Old Fisherman's Wharf is not so upscale. You might say it's honky-tonk. I found it quite charming.
