About
Designed by the creator of the 'Dennis the Menace' comic, this expansive park promises great fun for kids of all ages. Here, you'll find tons of slides and large play structures, a maze, an old steam engine, a baseball field, a skate park, and even a rock-climbing wall. Plus, a little bronze statue of Dennis the Menace himself. There's even a lake (where you can ride a pedal boat) and a beach right across the street. The park is popular for birthday parties, picnics, and barbeques, especially over the weekends—visit on weekdays for fewer crowds.

One of the best playgrounds ever. Came back to Monterey for son’s birthday because he kept talking about it after our first time in July. Fortunately, we only live two hours away.
Highly recommend. Great place for kids to get their energy out while families are social distancing during these crazy stressful times.
There a even park benches and tables to eat lunch. Some birds are aggressive probably from people feeding them. Please DO NOT feed the birds! And also remember to clean up after yourself. The playground is great because visitors do a great job of taking their trash out with them (or putting into proper bins near the exit).
Playground has many play structures, slides, a merry-go-round thing, a maze, walking bridge, pond with paddle boats, shaded picnic tables, restrooms(!), and the best part is the old steam engine. What a treat for the whole family!

When you visit Monterey, especially with kids, you may want to visit the Dennis the Menace park.
It is located not far from the downtown of Monterey.
This is a cute park, with a nice little Dennis the menace statue.
Enjoy your visit.

This park is a really fun place for young and old. The equipment is older, but well maintained. It is a fun play ground full of fun climbing structres and bizarre slides. Make sure you go down the rolling pipe slide. It makes quite a racket fo rhte kids, but most seem to love the noise. My son loves to climb on the airplane and explore the old steam locomotive. Must see for the little ones! (and us big ones too)

We have 4 kids ages 1-10, all "Dennis" proteges, and found the park lives up to its name. It is a very fun playground. The parking is inadequate, so park across the street. The other word to the wise is to stick close to your kids: this playground is big, crowded, and has many cool things to play on that are essentially unsafe if unsupervised. The highlight for my kids was the suspension bridge.

Ever since I was a baby, I have always visited Dennis the Menace park with my younger siblings. It is such a unique place, huge, with awesome structures to explore as a toddler, or as a parent, even as a 14-year-old such as myself. Even now, my parents cannot pass by without my little brother, sister, and I pleading to go, both literally and sarcastically as we are a little older. I still love to go whether while accompanying a younger cousin, or remembering way back when...

I grew up in Monterey and this park is incredible. Back in the early eighties it was really cool and today they have totally renovated it (in 2004 I think.) They made the park really safe for children. There is an old locomotive that children are allowed to play on and it is surrounded thick foam on the ground. There is also a climbing wall, hedge maze, lots of slides, all kinds of stuff. I have great memories of going to this park. It is totally unique. I don't really want to live in that part of California again, however, I may change my mind once I have children. I would love for them to grow up going to this park. Not quite as cool as the Aquarium, but it's pretty darn close when you're a kid. Go there, and take a camera.

Great fun but be aware that the park is CLOSED on Tuesdays! My 7 year old son was VERY disappointed when we pulled into the parking lot and found out that he couldn't play in the park.

My 3yr-old son loves this park! Overall a great place, but the large size of the park, the crowds and the not-your-average-play-structures means parents have to be ready to play too. The fun and sense of freedom your child will feel is worth the trip. My son ditched his great aunt in the maze and gave her a few minutes of fear. How Dennis the Menace is that?! The only drawback is the train locomotive. Although the train is a really great attraction, it is definitely too dangerous for those who are unsteady on their feet, both parents and kids alike - better for the bigger, steadier kids. I have yet to see a park as cool as this one. If you are in the area with kids this is a must! Plan to be there at least an hour and be prepared to park and walk as parking is limited.

Everything cool has been taken out. The airplane. The high-rise merry go round. The big silver slide. All replaced with the boring, run-of-the-mill plastic equipment that seems so popular these days. I hate lawyers.

Parking lot is not too latge, but usually fine on weekdays. There is parking nearby across the street, or on side streets if the lot is full.
