Sail with confidence on world famous Monterey Bay. Monterey hosts the most...

Sail with confidence on world famous Monterey Bay. Monterey hosts the most bio-dense and bio-diverse ecosystem on the U.S. Pacific coast. Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing

Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail.

Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions.

The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams.

We were poking around the pier looking for an alternative to the big commercial whale watching trips and were very happy to stumble across Monterey Bay Sailing tucked in the far corner of the pier. The one hour cruise takes you around the bay (so you probably won't see whales, but the sea lions and otters are very sweet) and... More

My wife, two kids (ages 1 and 3), and I loved the cruise. The boarding location is excellent - right at the end of fisherman's wharf that has all the restaurants and other goodies. The kids loved seeing the hundreds of sea lions as we depart the bay and enter open water. The captain was great. She was very friendly... More

Advertised as a whale watching opportunity but there didn't seem to be any effort to find marine animals other than the ever present otters and sea lions around the harbor.

While on our honeymoon we did a private charter sail at sunset and it included dinner and wine. We had Floyd and Dakota and they were so knowledgeable and made the excursion really fun! We saw at least five whales, several dolphins and a whole slew of sea lions bounding out in the water. It was quite the timer! This... More

We decided to book the sailing boat not whale watching, for 1 hour. It should be the first experience for my wife to be on a saling boat, but it was totally disappointing. The whole trip powered with engine although the wind was enough speed for sailing..the Capt.has even said, the wind speed was only 12knots, if we sail only... More

We had the best time taking Dutch's Sunset Sailing trip! The views were wonderful. Dutch let us bring our own wine on board and he provided the brie, pears, grapes and crackers! It was perfect. We met the cutest couples on the trip and had a really great time. Dutch and Alex were great hosts and were terrific.

Walked up kind of last minute because we never like to be constrained by booking times when traveling and were able to get a trip out with Dutch! I had never been sailing and he was super informative! Would do it again for sure!

My husband and I had a fantastic time on the 2 hour Monterey Bay Cruise. We say otters, sea lions and even a humpback whale in the distance. Our captain was great. We would recommend this 2 hour sailing trip to everyone.

Went on the sunset cruise with Captain Dutch. 3 hours total, 1.5 out and 1.5 in. It was freezing and I was underdressed. That's my fault. We saw no whales or wildlife. Really not their fault either as I'm sure that whales don't honor reservations. Captain Dutch has a pretty dry sense of humor, but is a nice guy and... More
